Had a lazy day today, apart from a bit of shopping.
This afternoon I was playing guitar on the sofa, and I could see out of the doors onto our deck.
Across the way there was a little boy - maybe three or four? He was pressed against the railings on their deck, staring at our bikes.
I went out after a bit, and asked if he'd like to sit on them - providing his parents didn't mind (they were right there.) His face just lit up - and now his mum's got lots of pictures of him, beaming, sitting on our bikes.
Nice to share a little happiness :)
We had a nice dinner tonight, big fresh tuna steaks.
Sherlock's hopefully home by now, having had dinner with Murray - we're phoning in a minute.
I hope London's still standing, and everyone survived!
We're watching the first episode of Peaky Blinders - anyone else watched it? Not 100% sure yet, but it looks quite interesting.

I see you're recruiting them early for the 2 wheel brigade now. ;)
Sounds like a lovely day, glad you're enjoying yourselves. Hope the diners had as much fun. Can't wait to hear how it all went. :)
Awwww, it sounds like you absolutely thrilled that little biker-to-be! And I have to say, that sounds like a wonderful day.
Eager to hear about the diners, too!
Not going back. Sherlock and Mycroft will have to join us here.
I was surprised Sherlock wasn't knocking on the door the second you hit 'post'.
I don't want to go back either. But I do want to be there for him at the end of school tomorrow.
Yeah, that'd be good. You'll have to wake me up tomorrow I think. I feel like I could just hibernate for a few weeks.
Nicky just sent me a link to find my Blues singer name.
From now on, I'm Ugly Gumbo Lemon Parker, and John is Boney Hips Bailey.
I shall call you Lemon.
I shall call you Boney then.
I hope you two gentlemen are well on your way back to Sherlock by now and that you have some great fun planned once you're back together :-)
I'm so glad you've had a lovely time away, you don't get time just the two of you very often so it's good that you've made the most of it when in came :-)
We are back. Horrible day to be riding, so windy and wet. Now thawing and unpacking and hanging wet gear up.
I've often looked at motorcycle riders in the rain and wondered how they kept warm. I hope you're not too frozen! Has Sherlock seen you yet?
You wear the right gear!
Just off out in the rain again to pick Sherlock up. I imagine he'll be full of energy...
I imagine you'll both be getting attacked by an excited flying Sherlock!
Have fun. :)
Your blues-singer names made me laugh out loud. :)
Really happy for you to have had such a nice honeymoon, and it's another reminder to me that I really do want to get my hot tub up and running again before winter. But, I'll get to soak in one this weekend, the "soup" kind: a huge metal tub with a wood stove clamped to one side and a chimney on the other. The smoke from the fire goes through baffles under the tub, so you have to sit on a piece of wood. It's awesome. Full of singing Morris dancers.
S
And now, of course, I'm wondering what Morris dancers sing. And whether or not they bring their bells and sticks along to the bath. ;D
Is that a Japanese bath?
Sherlock threw himself at us, and hasn't yet stopped talking.
Well you do have to catch up on all the news. Have you learned more about the candle incident?
Sherlock threw himself at us, and hasn't yet stopped talking.
That makes me all happy. :)
err... the candle incident 'wasn't his fault', according to him - one very unreliable source, given he couldn't quite decide if it was Murray's fault or Mrs H's...or maybe Angelo's...
Candles are very tippy. Except when things get into them. (It depends what kind of candle, but either way, they need looking out for.)
Having ruled out those who almost certainly weren't involved that leaves two who almost certainly were, I suspect.
It wasn't me and Mrs Hudson says you go on honeymoon and celebrate committing your lives together and so if that's right then John owes me and Mycroft a honeymoon when he said he'd be our nanny and then Lestrade owes us one too when he said he'd move in and so we should go on two more honeymoons all of us.
That makes quite a bit of sense, when you put it that way, Sherlock...
(Candles are a bother on the table. But candlelight is very pretty, so sometimes it's worth it.)
Would you settle for one extra long honeymoon, Sherlock?
What a great idea Sherlock, any excuse for a holiday I would say :-)
We're both far too soft - let him stay up for nearly an hour longer than normal!
(We did go past Angelo's earlier - it is still standing! And not at all charred.)
Thank goodness - I'd hate to be banned from there!
he's all weekend to catch up on sleep and an extra hour is nothing when it comes to catching up on a week of exciting adventures ;-)
It would have been inconvenient if he'd got us all banned, or burnt Angelo's to the ground.
And in the morning he'll read this and once again point out it wasn't his fault...
Sherlock made us run round the park for hours, so he could practice on his bike.
I need a nap
John bought me a chocolate spider when we went for shopping.
Well that was a very nice thing for him to have done. Did it taste good? (Now I want some chocolate too. I can't remember if we've got any in the house).
Did you all have a good day, between the running and the cycling and the shopping and the chocolate spider?
I bet it's nice to have them back, isn't it, Sherlock. Is that the spider with the green bits inside, I had one too, they're lovely. Do you think you'll be ready for the bike track soon then with all that extra practice.
How lovely to have been missed, John and Greg, it makes coming back just so much more special, doesn't it. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. :)
I broke a spoon and Lestrade's doing the thing when he's pretending not to be angry and it was a bit broken anyway and I didn't mean to and I said sorry.
You did, and it's fine, I know you didn't mean to.
Joolz - it was. I had one too ;)
Nameless - I'm worried I'll be sore in the morning, from the run - but returning to work feeling sore, after my honeymoon, will lead people to the wrong conclusions!
Was it that wooden spoon?
The wooden spoon with the split in it, yeah.
It's a shame when things get broken isn't it Sherlock, people can be upset about it even when its an accident but you're a good man saying sorry :-)
You sound like you've all had a nice day together, I'm glad you had better weather than we've got because running in the park really wouldn't have been an option here today even if we could find it in the fog and mist!
Fortunately, wooden spoons don't cost much (at least, not if you don't have to carve a new one.)
It was more sentimental value. But if did get a big split in it many years ago, so it's not surprising it finally gave up.
Oh, we lost "that spoon" out of our house this week as well. And I was the one that broke it. (Ours was the spoon that used to stir my mother-in-law's fudge, back when she was still alive.) Sherlock, wooden spoons just don't last forever, and I suspect that you may have been seeing more of a sentimental grief than anger out of your DI. But my first impulse, when I broke "our" spoon, was to hide it. I'd like to say that it's just a thing, but it's not really my place to say in this instance.
Well, there was no hot tub after all: the trailer it lives on had a flat tire, and the truck that pulls it was in need of repairs. But, still plenty of singing was had around the hearth in the camp dining hall. The repertoire is pub songs, sea chanteys, etc. Anything with a chorus is good, people like to make harmonies. Some sad songs, remembering Absent Friends; some happy or silly ones. Songs about beer/cider of course, nature, the agricultural year, etc. Not generally much overlap with conventional top 40...
these kids were there, http://www.youtube.com/user/MeridianCDOG they have a new album out, yay, and Colin dances with one of the guest teams. I can't get any youtube videos to load today... not sure if it's a problem on my end or somewhere else in the interwebs.
I think the idea of additional honeymoons is spectacular, and Sherlock is a smart kid for suggesting it!
