Too busy, didn't sleep for an unknown reason last night, which meant I wasn't a very nice person today, and have had to bring loads of work home with me. Still, one more day, then we're off ;)
Last did this way back in May! So I'll just put this link here for those of you who, like me, have forgotten exactly what was going on.
"There was, um, a power cut - just briefly. I had to go to the car to get the torch."
Greg nodded, still looking slightly blank.
"Did you...when the lights went out, I heard a thump. Did you fall? Have you hit your head or anything?"
"No," Greg frowned. "I'm fine. I was...what was I doing outside?"
Now John frowned too, unsure of what was going on, and not liking any of it.
"You went to fetch wood for the fire, but, well, I think we should probably just turn in." He paused, looking at Greg for any sign of injury. "You mind if I just check you over?"
Greg shook his head, and John briefly checked his head for any cuts or bruises, but found none.
"Why did you go down to the cellar?" John asked, as he moved to wash up the mugs.
"Cellar?"
"I found you in the cellar, just now...you seemed, I don't know, thoughtful? Just wondered why you went down there. It seemed a bit spooky."
Greg was looking more confused as John went on. "I...must have been looking for wood, I guess?" he said, sounded very unconvincing.
"Yeah, probably," John smiled, although he didn't feel like smiling in the least.
"Come on then, bed."
Upstairs they piled as many blankets and fnugs onto the bed as they could find, in case the temperature dropped further in the night.
"God, your feet are freezing," John said, wishing he'd kept his socks on.
"Sorry," Greg mumbled, but didn't remove his feet from John's calves.
"Night," John smiled indulgently, reaching for a kiss.
"Night," Greg replied, kissing John on the lips.
John reached to turn the light out, and as he turned back for a split second it seemed that Greg's eyes glowed a very deep red, before returning to their usual dark brown. He sternly told himself he must have imagined it - it had to be a reflection of the fading light in his lover's eyes. There was definitely no other explanation.
John pulled the cover closer to him, and wished they'd slept with their clothes on, in case anything else happened during the night.
Outside, the creatures of the forest called out in the darkness. John wished he had their confidence in the darkness.

On the contrary, John always looks good, I'm sure. Being an ex-underwear model.
No one looks good when possessed by a demon though...or whatever's going on... What is going on??
I don't know! I was thinking maybe he's inherited some sort of curse along with the castle? They may need to go on some sort of adventure to break it. Or...I don't know. John just learns to love him anyway, cold feet and vacant moments and all (much like you've managed, with my cold feet and vacant moments.)

More than expected, given the extent of the injuries. He had a bag of pig's blood on him. Two of the officers were soaked with it by the time I got there. It was a worrying moment.
...do I dare ask why?? Not that it's the first time people have bought along their own spare blood supply to a scene...

I couldn't tell you. He said it was for emergencies. Maybe he'd hoped to squirt them and then run away, like a squid with ink?
I once arrested a woman for trying to frame a Westie dog with a pint of stolen blood and a stick... that was very confusing. The Westie kept licking up all the blood, she was screaming as if it had nearly had her leg off, the dog was covering everyone and everything in blood because it was friendly...chaos.
She was done for theft of the blood, criminal damage, animal cruelty... and the dog was free to go.
Ooooh a lovely bit of Greg The Florist - but now I'm doubting I should have read it just before bed, will I have visions of red eyes in my dreams! :)
Do you have anything nice planned with Sherlock tomorrow, John, maybe lunch with his two favourite people or something. Hope work is ok for you, Greg, and the day goes really quickly. Have a great day all of you anyway.

If that story is anything to go by J I wouldn't let L out of your sight whilst you're away - although I doubt that would be a hardship. Have a great time guys, I'm away too so I'll look forward to reading about it when I get back.
Danger, Sherlock, if you want lunch together then give me a bit of notice and I can be free, unless I get a call out. Only doing mounds of paperwork and case reviews until then. Mainly just wet signature work.
I hope not manage to have lunch together, its always nice when a days work can be combined with smiles and fun with the family :-)

Fact of the day... Apparently, if you do the Marathon des Sables, there's a fee for them to send your body back home included in the sign-up process, just in case.

Don't get me wrong - if you want to do it, I'll support you all the way. After all, you could get run over by a bus tomorrow. But I don't expect me to have any finger nails or a single non-grey hair by the time you get back (not that I have any non-grey hairs now...but you get the point.)

What is it exactly? Are we meant to ride for miles and miles? Some sort of obstacle course?
No you have to go it looks good and there's jumps and tracks in the forest and everything and we can all go then and it will be goooooooooooooood don't be boring and not go.
I think there are different tracks. Some say they're smooth, wide and flat (perfect), others say they're 'technical'...which I think means 'dangerous'.

That bike place does look like a lot of fun. While I was in Colorado, we saw a lot of bikers on theLookout Mountain road, and while it might be hard to do the five miles up, I bet you'd all like coming back down. Even with all the switchbacks!

I have to wonder why you are packing early for a trip on which you seem to intend not to need many clothes but I'm sure there are still important things to take with you ;-)

L, there were all sorts of people in all kinds of things with wheels going up and down the mountain -- motorbikes as well as bikes, and cars. But also, coming down, there were skateboarders! And deer, just to make things a bit more exciting.
Packed already, eh? And are the suitcases weighed so you can tell if Sherlock has snuck anything important in?
Well, it does make it easier to pack - shorts for the hot tub, cycling stuff... essential supplies, toothbrush...done! ;)

Mmm, first coffee stop... The early morning fog has cleared and it's a lovely day for riding bikes with and without engines :)
We made cupcakes with orange and lemon and Mrs Hudson says our kitchen is nicer than hers and we hope you're having a nice time and did you do the cycling?
That's sounds like a fun way to spend an afternoon, Sherlock! Did you taste test the cupcakes yet?
We did 'do cycling', it was lots of fun. The lady who we got the bikes from said she thought if you practiced hard then you'd be okay doing even some of the harder bits.
Did you help Mrs H find everything she needed? I bed your cakes are brilliant.
