It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for...Johnny

So...well, anyone who can tell me what's going on here is really quite welcome. Just have a guess - why not?? Frankly any offerings are going to be fairly entertaining.

I'll let you all know where your response came on the pink-ear-o-meter that John has, once I'm home tonight. If he doesn't kill me. Still, the reason I'm posting this now is because I won't see him for a few more hours, and this way I'll die laughing, at least!

Thank you, Harry, for my lovely Christmas picture of John. It's on my desk next to the other one...

He looks rather triumphant, doesn't he? Although I don't think it's the most flattering of cuts. Not that I'm any expert ;) Nice figure under that gauzy bit of...whatever, though.

Anyway, guess away, and be glad you're all out of pillow-throwing range.

Three days of freedom after today - culminating, on Sunday night, with us all taking Mycroft back to school on the bikes. Sherlock is desperate to show everyone how grown up he is by going on the bike.

That is the best photo so far, I really hope we're going to find out why on earth John let it be taken ;-)

John H. D. Watson said...

Oh no...

Greg Lestrade said...

Oh yes.

Sherlock said...

I like the purple bit where it goes from black to purple.

REReader said...

School play? Costume party? (I'm boring, I know. :))

I hope you close in on your suspect today, L, and that you, Sherlock, Mycroft, and John, are having a good afternoon. And hooray for a lovely three-day end of school-holiday holiday!

John H. D. Watson said...

How did Harry get that? She wasn't even there!

REReader said...

The color shading is nice, Sherlock! (Although a blouson is nearly always a mistake, style-wise. ;))

Small Hobbit said...

Very fetching. Something to slip on between shoots whilst underwear modelling?

Greg Lestrade said...

You weren't any of the events from which you now possess pics of me.

SH - I like your theory.

Kestrel337 said...

It looks very grecian inspired to me. And you've said he's a God. I think the conclusion is obvious. This is John in his alter-identity. Apollo? Mercury? Apollo seems more likely to this humble commenter.

(And both you and RR are correct, that cut flatters almost nobody)

Drama production of Shakespeare (modern interpretation) at school/uni?

The style isn't very flattering on anyone, but I do like the color, and the top half is very nice, it accentuates your shoulders. ;-P

Was this Army or before? If Army, I'm going to guess fashion show? If medical school... Triple dog dare?

Greg Lestrade said...

If medical school, what were you about to do with that fist that you look so happy about? Hard to guage your age...you look quite youthful though.

John H. D. Watson said...

After medical school.

REReader said...

Lost a bet?

Anonymous said...

About to make a music video?

rsf

Greg Lestrade said...

Looks a bit too pleased to have lost a bet, RR.

So...with that window design, was this one of you forays to Egypt?

John H. D. Watson said...

I'm not sure I should say. I should just leave your curiosity unfulfilled...forever.

Greg Lestrade said...

I'll ask Murray

REReader said...

Won a bet? (The outfit being a part of said bet?)

John H. D. Watson said...

I'll ask Murray

You don't understand the magnitude of that threat...

Maybe I'll post about it tonight.

pandabob said...

Maybe I'll post about it tonight

No no John, it should say

I'll post about it tonight and put you all out of your nosiness ;-)

Greg Lestrade said...

My thought process was:
'i wonder if Murray was there and knows why Danger was dressed like that...'

'Ah, hell, even if he has no clue, once he sees the pic he'll make up a brilliant story, regardless!'

piplover said...

There's no threat quite like that of asking an Army buddy about the past. Good luck with that, John.

John H. D. Watson said...

exactly!

Greg Lestrade said...

Are you making those cookies, Sherlock?

Danger - well, it's asking Murray or asking you :) I think he may be more entertaining...but who will be more truthful?

John H. D. Watson said...

I'll try to be both, but he's almost always more entertaining.

Sherlock is indeed making those cookies. Mostly by himself. The kitchen is coated with chocolate.

Greg Lestrade said...

Are you coated in chocolate?

John H. D. Watson said...

Mycroft is...

REReader said...

Mycroft is a VERY good brother.

Anonymous said...

Oh my, you guys, I didn't mean to send Sherlock on a chocolate spree when I posted the recipe.

zeph

Greg Lestrade said...

Don't worry - between me, John, Mycroft and the dogs the mess won't last long. Although John won't believe there's chocolate behind his ear that needs licking off...and he's moaning my leather jacket's too cold for me to grab him and try to get it...

Anonymous said...

Well, you are welcome then, I guess. And chocolate is such a pesky thing, it gets everywhere ;)

zeph

REReader said...

Although John won't believe there's chocolate behind his ear that needs licking off.

And was there any? ;)

Anonymous said...

I hope the dogs didn't get too much chocolate.

Did Sally have any theories about John's picture on your desk?

Greg Lestrade said...

RR - Are you doubting that I told the truth??

Anon - No, they tend to hoover up around the floor, but I doubt they got much. They're so huge that they could probably eat a whole Dairy Milk before it was poisonous to them anyway! (Not that we'll try.)

I'm afraid I didn't really put it on my desk. But she did see it on here and say she thought his outfit was more tasteful than my miniskirt. Some people have no taste!

REReader said...

You did not actually tell us that there was chocolate there, you know--only that John didn't believe that there was. So I asked. ;)

Greg Lestrade said...

Ah, so you assumed I was trying to lick fictional chocolate from him?

REReader said...

It is not outside the bounds of possibility--and low calorie, too!

Anon Without A Name said...

Have to agree with everyone else - a blouson is not a flattering look, even on a young Dr Hotson. Nice colour though :-)

Lestrade - have you found all of the chocolate - or are you going to have to wait until later to check more closely, just to be sure?

pandabob said...

Are the biscuits tastier than John? or have you not been allowed to try either yet this evening?

Greg Lestrade said...

Nameless - I'll have to check later, obviously. Full body search.

Greg Lestrade said...

Hey, Sherlock, you should read this:

http://www.elephantjournal.com/2013/01/kissing-uses-all-34-muscles-of-the-face-infographic/

John H. D. Watson said...

I only said you might take your jacket off first...

I read that link's url and somehow expected it to be about elephant facial muscles.

Greg Lestrade said...

But i was warm inside it ;)

I thought he might like a bit of science... although how many years do I add to my life kissing you in the morning, if a husband gains 5yrs kissing his wife?? Mind you...if you're going to start wearing dresses...

John H. D. Watson said...

If I started wearing the dress in that picture, it might take years off both our lives.

Greg Lestrade said...

I really have no desires to see you in a dress. Really.

No offence to anyone who likes slapping a dress on...but dresses on blokes I like really doesn't do it for me!

John H. D. Watson said...

Ha. You have nothing to worry about, believe me.

Greg Lestrade said...

I have plenty...but I'm glad that's not one of them.

John H. D. Watson said...

Anything in particular?

Greg Lestrade said...

Nothing out of the ordinary. Mum and work, mainly.

John H. D. Watson said...

That's probably more than enough.

Greg Lestrade said...

Sometimes feels like it. Still, three days with my three favourite people now, right? How much time will be allowed to spend off the bikes by his lordship?

pandabob said...

I'm sorry life is out of balance for you Greg. Enjoy the time with your boys and try and do a bit of ignoring of the other stuff, it won't go away but it might look like less bother after three days of fun and laughter :-)

John H. D. Watson said...

If he gets his way, none I'm sure. There w will have to be done form of compromise.

John H. D. Watson said...

I don't know where the done came from.

Greg Lestrade said...

We'll have to find some places to go, maybe? So even if we bike there, we have a few hours off :)

Did you wear that sock on your head all day? ;)

John H. D. Watson said...

have you put it back??

Greg Lestrade said...

Don't know what you mean.

Although I will say you're rather easily distracted from people putting things on your head...

John H. D. Watson said...

I wouldn't say very easily... You've been fairly distracting, what with insisting I still have chocolate behind my ear.

Greg Lestrade said...

It was Mycroft who put it there.

REReader said...

Well, you guys are certainly brightening my evening! :)

(I'm sorry your mum and your work are currently stress-producing, L--I hope your three-day break will help there.)

John H. D. Watson said...

...I don't know whether to believe that or not...

Mycroft said...

'Grassing up' your partner in crime, Lestrade? I would have expected more loyalty.

I may have to have my people 'deal with' you.

pandabob said...

uh oh, someone's in trouble ;-)

John H. D. Watson said...

Ha. If his 'people' are Sherlock and/or Anthea...you're in serious trouble.

And someone's put that damn sock back on my head, how many times am I going to have to remove this thing!

Anon Without A Name said...

The real question, John, is have they turned it the right way out?

Greg Lestrade said...

That is actually rather frightening, coming from you, Mycroft.

Although you didn't have to admit to being my partner in crime...

Danger, to be fair, it's a new sock - the one that's been on my foot all day today, rather than the one that had been on my foot all day yesterday...sockhawk2!

John H. D. Watson said...

Nameless - it is, at least, right side out.

L - that is not a 'new' sock, that is a newly sweated upon sock, which is not better than yesterday's sock!

Greg Lestrade said...

Well, I took it off hours ago, when I got home. It's probably reached the slightly-crispy stage now, rather than the 'damp' stage.

John H. D. Watson said...

I'm honestly not sure if that's better or worse. It's not a question I've had to contemplate up to now. At least not in regard to socks going on my head.

pandabob said...

no nameless the real question is why are Greg and Mycroft being conned into believing John doesn't want to be distracted rather than post the story of the picture ;-)

Greg Lestrade said...

I'm sure he'd rather tell the story... but I really need some sleep, so even if he does, I won't see it until morning.

Which doesn't, of course, mean you fine folks shouldn't wait up to hear it...

I rather fear waking up tomorrow completely buried in socks and pot plants and things...

John H. D. Watson said...

I think i'd much rather go to bed with you than explain that photo.

Greg Lestrade said...

Don't think you're getting out of it though. I've got three days now to pile socks on your head until you talk.

Unless you'd rather I took it down and never mentioned it again, which is fine too.

pandabob said...

I was only kidding.

Sleep well both of you :-)

John H. D. Watson said...

I don't really mind, I'll do it tomorrow. After I steal all your socks. Or at least all the dirty ones.

Greg Lestrade said...

I'll just find other things to put on you :)

C'mon, bed, my....coughnumber.... of mugs of coffee today are clearly not helping me stay awake.

John H. D. Watson said...

How about if you put a motorcycle under me instead? I'd prefer that. And it isn't sweaty or crispy.

Bed sounds wonderful.

Greg Lestrade said...

I can think of better things to put under you. Can't guarantee they won't get sweaty though...

John H. D. Watson said...

I sense I'll like this idea better than socks...

REReader said...

I would have expected more loyalty.

No honor amongst pranksters... *shakes head sadly*

Sherlock said...

We've had pancakes this morning and now the washing is done and i tidied my room we're going out on the bikes!

Anonymous said...

Have fun, Sherlock! ... and everybody else who's going.
Tina

REReader said...

How lovely, Sherlock! I hope you--all four of you--have the best time!

Anonymous said...

That sounds like a great start to a day, Sherlock. Have you picked where you're going to go on the bikes, or are you just going to go until you stumble across someplace interesting enough to stop?

rsf

Greg Lestrade said...

We've found a cosy pub to stop for lunch in.

If Sherlock doesn't stop blowing bubbles in his soup he'll be walking home.

Mycroft said...

John wants to try it too. You can tell just by looking at him.

Greg Lestrade said...

He is a bit of a hooligan. Been riding the streets half the morning with a sock stuck to the top of his helmet like a right tearaway.

John H. D. Watson said...

There is no sock on my helmet! I'm sure I would've noticed.

Greg Lestrade said...

It fell off. Or maybe it was never there. Only your pillion would know...

John H. D. Watson said...

My pillion stuck a sock to my head last night! At least I can be sure it wasn't a succulent this time.

Greg Lestrade said...

He's a naughty pillion.

Or maybe I imagined the sock he taped to your helmet before we pulled away from the parking spot earlier...

John H. D. Watson said...

...They're both grinning at me now, looking eerily similar for not being related by blood.

REReader said...

Well, then, you might as well try blowing bubbles in your soup! (How does one do that without a straw? *decides to have soup for lunch*)

Anonymous said...

It's nice to see that you're taking your "bad influence" duties so seriously.

Or not, as the case may be.

Greg Lestrade said...

Currently teaching sherlock the words to 'Lola' so he can sing it to John with me.

Sherlock charmed the bar lady into giving him cream and ice cream on his chocolate fudge cake by telling her about our dogs - in comparison to her dog, which wasn't even there - based on the dog hair stuck to her tights.

REReader said...

Excellent, Sherlock! (Both things. :))

Anon Without A Name said...

Oh, that was very clever, Sherlock - what did you notice about the dog hairs that was different to Phobos and Deimos?

pandabob said...

I saw this and thought of you lot

http://media-cache-ec3.pinterest.com/upload/119626933821604397_5iaPHnhf_c.jpg

I have no idea why ;-)

I hope your evening is treating you all to rest and fun.
