Should auld acquaintance be forgot

My last post seems...oddly appropriate, once again.

What a year.

So many changes.

But somehow, as the boys grow up, as we grow older, as everything settles in our lives, I suppose we're all happier with a little more privacy. A little more anonymity.

So, here we are.

Everyone is happy and healthy. Although, after today, also stuffed and in some cases a little tipsy.

I can't ever thank you enough for all of your support, love and kindness in the time I've had this blog.

And I wish you all only the best of things. Happiness, love and joy. May your lives be filled with laughter in 2018 and beyond.

So, you may not hear much from me and John now.

But I feel certain you haven't heard the last of the two young men we've had the privilege of helping to raise.

To the future.

To Mycroft and Sherlock.

I raise my glass.

19 September 2016

I strolled all alone through a fallout zone and come out with my soul untouched

So. The flat is quiet again.

Mycroft has begun his new journey - the next chapter in his life. His college is lovely - small, old, all the things you'd expect from a college founded in 1897 really - although they kicked off in 1281, they just had a rough time for a while and only got back in in 1897.

Well, I'm not sure I'd have expected the monks, but Mycroft prepared us.

He got himself settled in, and then we went and found coffee. Which is obviously the next most important thing. Then had a little walk around the area, before going back and meeting yet more of his new...college mates?

Very odd, to be dropping him off at a new place, after seeing him off to school so many times. It is really nice though.

His mum is going to have dinner with them all at the end of the week. We've been invited to go back for dinner sometime, too, which is nice.

Sherlock scowled a lot. Even though he was getting a day off school for free.

Sort of for my birthday the guys got me a camera. I do like taking photos, and I usually just use my phone. But they asked Jo for advice and got me a great DSLR. Except it's for all of us to use, obviously.

Anyway, Sherlock took it up the allotment when we went up a few weeks ago and very politely asked some other allotmenteers if he could search their patches for things to snap. Then he was very quiet and patient and got some brilliant shots, which he wanted to share with you.

Hvala, Croatia!

So...we have returned.

London is far too far from a warm sea.

It was beautiful. I mean, I don't really have words for how beautiful. Stunning. Like nowhere I've ever been.

So, because worlds fail me, have some pics.

28 August 2014

But love and years are not for sale, In our old house on the lake

The fire is lit, my sister is saying 'really, can't you put the phone down?'...oh, now I've told her I'm blogging not working, she's changed her tune and says 'Hi everyone!'.

Never go camping with your siblings when you're adults and have dependents. Campfire stories are a whole new kind of horror. I swear there isn't a thing about our childhood John now doesn't know. Including that she once discovered I had worn her underwear. thanks, Sis!

Anyway, apart from that, the tents are great, not like camping too much - just enough. Outdoors is right there, but indoors is dry and cosy and big enough to stand up in.

We've enjoyed the outdoors - walking and canoeing and clambering through trees.

Been a bit wet today, so we went on a steam train ride and then a boat trip. All sort of indoors - well, we had a roof over our head, anyway. If we wanted it.

I do feel sorry for the general public who stumble upon us all unexpectedly...

Old lady, to Sherlock, who has his chin on the rail of the boat and is staring into the water: "Are you looking for fish, dear? Have you seen any yet?"

Sherlock: "No, looking for dead bodies and I haven't seen one yet but Lestrade says there probably are some."*

*I did not say this, exactly. I said, in answer to his question, that there had probably been dead bodies in there at some time in history.

Anyway, she looked shocked and managed to stutter out a 'Good!'.

And it's been a YEAR since John forgot to run away and found himself swept along on the tide of life and somehow saying 'I do' to a registrar.

An amazing year. An amazing few years, but this last one has really been amazing. I need a word other than amazing here, don't I? But it is - has been - will keep on being, if we have our way!

Camping just always makes me think of John asking me to marry him. I...very much didn't expect it. Even though I'd sort of...well, wanted to do it myself, sometimes, I don't know, it's hard to explain.

Being here just brings it all home, anyway, the change - the difference in me. From all those years when I didn't want to see Nicky because I was embarrassed at what my life had become, to now, when we're all here, on holiday, and I'm proud of everything - the boys, John, I'm proud and happy and I want to share all that.

Right now, I'll share this, with you.

14 August 2014

Come on everybody Let your spirits be free

Yesterday I got home, had a large moustache drawn upon me, went and got dressed in my leather jacket, jeans, boots, uniform cap and aviators, then came down and snuck up on John and sang this at him:

He only just survived being danced around the kitchen. He looked as if he was about to choke to death as he snorted with laughter and tried to tell me to sod off so he could finish making the tea.

Anyway, today...

17 May 2014

Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.

I'm feeling almost as sick as Sherlock (he says I'm not, that's ridiculous, he's ACTUALLY ill.)

Arsenal will soon be kicking off against Hull at Wembley. I am terrified. We haven't won any silverware since 2005.

Shit...Sherlock has pointed out he wasn't BORN in 2005. (He's next to me, reading this. He says hello and thank you for all hoping he's better soon. He's REALLY ill. And it's boring.)

Anyway, yes, for the next short while I will be on the edge of my seat (no, probably not liter...actually, yes, probably literally.) because...well...the FA Cup. It's actually a new cup this year - the third, I think? ever made.

I feel so ill. I am so nervous.

To be fair Hull have never won anything..ever. So they're probably more nervous than I am.

For those of you not interested in footy, you can ponder upon whether John actually lied to us all, and learnt his Doctoring in the Navy, not the Army. He certainly seems to have taken note of their training...and he often seems to think I'm in need of artificial respiration...

Sherlock says I'm being stupid :)

He's very poorly, he asks me to remind you. He's a heap of blankets and pyjamas at the moment, with a waterbottle and some fruit within reach.

John's out right now, I sent him out, told him to try and take a bit of time to enjoy the weather, in amongst getting a few bits. He'd do well to stay out while I shout at the TV, really....

And I have a dilemma.

I want to take some time off to spend with John. If I do this next week, then I'll be tending to a sick Sherlock, which I also want to do! But...it won't exactly be the time together with my husband I was hoping for. but then I also feel terrible going to work and leaving John as full time doctor to the small spotty one...

Maybe I'll take a couple of days, to give Danger a few days respite...I don't know. I'm sure someone will tell me what to do ;)

5 May 2014

My feet don't hardly make no sound

We all had a lovely walk yesterday.

I think, if the boys do sort out cloning, that I'd like an Anthea. I have no idea how Mrs H found her, or where, but I'm beginning to think she was actually manufactured specifically for the purpose.

So we biked out to the countryside, and Anthea played dog-taxi, then she looked after all of our bike gear so we could go on a long ramble around the sun-soaked countryside.

The dogs were great, bounding all over the place, having the time of their lives. As was Sherlock.

We all ran amok, but the dogs are so big and excitable that I discovered if you run amok in too silly a fashion, they just accidentally flatten you. And then your husband laughs like a drain. I just didn't see the dog coming - I was halfway through a particularly balletic leap, when WHAM, dog from the side meant I met the turf - luckily not a cow-pat! And then the dog tried to lick me to death - no dog gets to lick me when it's spent half the walk trying to eat rabbit poo, thanks all the same.

Anyway, here are some views.

18 February 2014

Don't accept average habits, Open your heart and push the limits.

We're home! We're a bit wet around the edges, but we're home.

(Big debate this morning - train or bikes? The boys were immediate and unanimous in their answer - BIKES.)

So we headed off and up to Bletchley Park. A nice ride this morning, although Sherlock was wriggling about - like having an eel behind me on the bike.

Once we were there, an in, Sherlock obviously wanted to DO everything, while Mycroft wanted to know what was going on, and when.

So off we strolled, having been kitted out with little ...well, earphones and screens, that fit in your pocket, you know? To the main house, to find out which talks and things we could go and see/walk around with.

Well...the boys decided we needed to do a walking tour, then a talk about the Enigma machine, then a talk about The Bombe... so we did.

The walking tour was very interesting. Amazing to think of all those people, not even knowing what each other did, let alone telling anyone outside what was happening in there! The poor guys who were getting abuse for not being in uniform, as if they weren't 'doing their bit' and unable to defend themselves... the people who arrived single, and left married...still without knowing what their new spouse did! The people who arrived married...and left married to someone different!

And the pressure...the thought that so many lives were in your hands, when they were only 18, 19 years old. Amazing.

Anyway, after that we got coffee (this is a bit of a theme...) and then headed for the first talk. It was in the ballroom - very impressive.

It was...very interesting. I do sort of understand it...sort of. Clever machine.

Then I got another coffee... and we went to the talk about The Bombe. Same old guy... well, I was lost. I mean, really really early on, when we were still on the 'simple' part, I was completely lost...I'm still lost. If you find me, do tell me where I am.

I mean, I can tell it was completely amazing, what they did. I just...don't quite understand how they got there. Mycroft tried to explain, but...well, maybe I should do some reading on it. Mycroft went and spoke to the guy afterwards, and thanked him for his very informative talk.

13 February 2014

It's not so hard to do, And it'll carry you through

Well. Feels like a lot has happened this week.

In completely the wrong order - Mycroft got wonderful reports from all his teachers. They're almost as proud of him as we are, it would seem. I know he'll be very modest, but he is just an all-round wonderful young man. I hope he'll manage to find quite a lot of time to relax this half term - I know he's got work to do, but we're definitely going to try and all get out places together, too.

Anyway, we'll be back to fetch him for the holiday tomorrow. I guess they put this evening right by when a lot of travelling parents will be down to pick up their boys anyway.

So that's all good. And although Mycroft said he didn't do as well as he wanted in his mocks...I'm sure it won't surprise any of you to know he did extremely well. He just holds himself to incredibly high standards.

And.... well, yes, Bryan. I don't know if it's a long story, or I've just over thought it, or what... Basically, he got the custody sergeant to call me when he was arrested. And... I still don't know what he thought. But he was obviously worried. I just went to the stock phrases. First offence, nothing I could do anyway. I didn't know what to do, I mean...who would have expected that? So then he got angry, said I was ruining him, because he was about to make it big in America, and this would ...mess that up. So I just said the only person who'd messed up was him, and told the custody sarge not to call me again. (The calls are done on speakerphone, so the sarge's can hear both sides of the conversation.)

And...well, I was worried, I'll be honest. I thought he could do something vindictive once he was out.

Then today he called my office. Told me I had to help him. Tried some of the old tricks that used to work - the blackmail, the threats, picking at my insecurities. Except that so many of those insecurities he used to rely on don't exist any more - not like they used to, anyway.

So then I just got angry. And I thought, you know, actually, he's bloody called me, so he can listen to me for once - for as long as it took him to realise he could hang up, anyway. And that actually took quite a long time. Shock, I guess. So I told him a few home truths that have been stewing away inside me. Which I won't go into, because... well, because I don't want to be like that. But yeah, it felt good, knowing that he knew what I thought of him, and he knew I wasn't afraid to say it. And he knew I was proud and happy with my family, and what they thought of him.

So, apart from scaring some of my officers with the ferocity, volume and amount of swearing going on, it was a good thing to happen, really.

I very much doubt he'll go to prison or anything, but he'll at least be given something to think about.

5 January 2014

Love, reign o'er me, Rain on me, rain on me

Hello 2014.

Today is the last day of the holidays.

I have paperwork to do, and one meeting to go to tomorrow, because...God, it makes me feel horribly, horribly guilty...but I don't want to go to work. I want to be at home with them. It always feels like the time goes so fast. So yeah, staying at home, mainly.

It's 2 years since I made a resolution to get a better work/life balance... not sure I've done it, but...well, I'm not unmotivated.

The boys have made a few million biscuits, some for us, some for Mycroft to take with him. And Mycroft has begun to sort out his things. Mainly lots and lots of text books for school.

My ankle is getting better - I can get about the flat okay, I just have to be careful.

I'm not generally particularly careful. And when I swear Sherlock's bat ears always hear.

Our calendar informs us that Sherlock will be having his school photos taken this week. He is pondering having his hair cut. I'm not sure he will - I think he should wait until it's warmer! Anyway, don't tell him, but he looks cute when he's glaring out from under his curls. Quite a contrast to Mycroft, who looks very dapper.

What else...well, it's still raining. We're going to start building an ark. Maybe on the allotment, after Reg growled at us for not digging it over yet. Or getting any seeds in the cold frames. And generally being fairweather allotmenteers who have gone into hibernation over winter.

Of course, because it currently looks like the Somme, Sherlock wants to dive headfirst into it and roll about. And so would the dogs. In fact, I might join them, if it's between that or digging it all up...

And now this...

23 November 2013

The redoubtable beast has had Pegasus pills

I definitely need a day off. And I haven't got one, but two :)

Tomorrow we're off to see Mycroft. Biscuits have been baked. John and Sherlock went out to one of the markets today, and returned with some gorgeous food, and Sherlock has a printing block of a Fiddler Crab. I asked, and John just told me it was far better than what we could have ended up with! (Things including a small trumpet of some sort. Bullet dodged!)

So...three years. Seems like forever. Yet also like no time at all. I can't believe that we've known the boys for three years. I can't believe how much they've changed - how much we've all changed! Can't believe we've gone from Professional Police Officer and Suspected Serial Killer, to Unprofessional Police Officer and Unlikely Suspect to Husband and...Husband ;)

But we have. And I really couldn't be happier with our lives together.

A year ago, just gone, Mum had her stroke. She's been to see the place we think she'll be living. She's...quiet, Nicky says. I imagine she's a bit scared. The nurse visiting her says she really does need to try and give up the booze and fags. I don't know, though. I don't know how cruel that is. I'm not actually sure how much point there is giving things up when you have so little to live for.

I hope she makes some friends.

Sherlock is involved in thinking about Christmas. Namely, all the things he wants for Christmas. Don't get me wrong, he wants to buy us things, too. Things he likes ;) Still, he's wonderfully enthusiastic about it all, which is nice, most of the time. Makes up for some of us not quite being in the Christmas spirit yet ;)

Poor old Mycroft is locked in a battle of wills with his Mum. It's a tough choice, I guess. Obviously she wants to protect the boys. But he's a young man now... hard to know how to play it, I guess.

The cricket's not going so well, eh? Or the rugby... oh dear. But Arsenal are doing okay ;)

Have a picture of a fellow officer I met today. Very handsome chap. I may have stroked his ears...

27 October 2013

Alright don't worry even if things end up a bit too heavy

Hope you all brought your washing in, UK-ites. Battened down your cats. Tied any elderly relatives to a sturdy object. Put children in the basement. That sort of thing.

We're not taking Mycroft back to school - he is, sadly, still going - but Anthea's taking him in a vehicle that could probably survive the apocalypse, let alone a bit of a stiff breeze.

Motorbikes wouldn't have been a good idea. I have no desire to take up any emergnecy service's time and energy by doing something stupid.

Although I think it fairly likely I'll get some work off the back of it, if it is as bad as they say it will be.

Sherlock is desperate to stay awake and see it all. Although it'll probably result in a few recycling boxes and bin lids blowing around and the odd tree giving up and having a lie down.

Today. Today was...I'm still a bit lost for words.

29 August 2013

It's a nice day for...

So, here we go. Some details :)

Cake!

Like I said in comments, bottom was rich fruit cake, chocolate and Brandy. Lots of Brandy. Really, lots. I reckon I could have set my breath on fire!

Top was chocolate sponge with chocolate and raspberry filling, in two places - so, three bits of cake, two layers of gooey choccy raspberry. Not that I got to try much, as a certain cake-devouring boy was there..

Anyway, we had a bit of a purple theme, but we didn't want anything too....showy.

There you go.

We got married in Oscar Wilde's old club, Kettners... famed for it's risque parties, once! It was lovely. Perfect. A beautiful room for the ceremony, then a bar and larger area for after. And there's an 'apartment' where John, Mycroft, Murray, Sherlock and I all got prepped and changed and ready. It has a secret entrance!

Everything was just...amazing.

Here's the Champagne Bar -

:)

18 August 2013

Then came act two, you seemed to change, you acted strange

So...heading North. On my own. Not really what I'd like to be doing right now.

I...well, it's been a weird couple of days, since the package arrived. I'm still...well, still going through a lot of emotions about it all. Thanks for all your views. It helps, having different viewpoints.

I've still no idea what to do with it - well, to be honest, I can't do anything yet. The yard are checking it all, in case I lied and it's not from a relative, but a bribe or gift of some form.

I'm not sure we can tell Mum. I just...well, I don't know how she'd react. But I don't think it would be good. She didn't even want me to keep his name, let alone now have any contact with him. And I can't blame her.

Like I said, it's not...I don't know, it's not the letter, the gesture - or whatever it is - that really gets me. It's the lack of control, I suppose. The fact he's done what he wants, and not even...let anyone react, let alone confront him. Perhaps those are the wrong words. Too...aggressive. I don't know when it comes to him.

All I can imagine is a weak man who liked to hurt other people - with words and deeds.

Anyway, that's all a bit depressing.

I'm back here on Weds - when I might finally get a drink with Murray! Honestly, he'll start to think I'm avoiding him...and then he might wonder why.

Mycroft gets his exam results on Thursday. I'm more excited and nervous than I ever was for my own results. I didn't even fetch mine. Nicky did, because she said I should know, even if I was trying to avoid it. Take some responsibility for my life.

have a bit of Elvis to cheer up a dreary post. Never fails to make me laugh.

15 August 2013

I saw a lone rider

I admit, riding was fun, Even if I'm a bit sore today.

My horse was Dante, John's was Noddy (although it had big ears...), Mycroft's was Golly and Sherlock's was Flixy. They were all very well behaved and we had a gentle long walk around the woodland. Dmittedly Sherlock's did keep stopping to try and eat, but like Mycroft said, you'd think Sherlock would sympathise.

Generally we've had an amazing time, it's fun just being together and exploring places and spending our time relaxing. Few odd looks from other campsite residents, but who cares.

We're heading back home tomorrow. I've got two days of work before conference. Catching up and then ready to leave again.

Tonight and tomorrow is meant to be rain rain rain. The clouds are very dark grey.

I'm fighting a migraine... popping pills. I don't want to feel like shit in a tent!

31 July 2013

For the usual fee - plus expenses

Apparently talking lots during meal times makes your kids more confident. We don't have a problem with that. Although sometimes a problem with not talking with full mouths...

Private Detectives are finally going to be regulated - although I'm unsure if it will work. But still, a step in the right direction? Maybe?

And people who are suspected of domestic violence are going to be banned from owning firearms. Excellent, in my view. A whole raft of new measures are being brought in to help the police either refuse rights to own guns, or remove guns already owned, if evidence/report of domestic violence come to light. As well as to privately interview other family members about the person' suitability to own a firearm. About bloody time.

On the subject of rules and regulations, here's one John found:

...yes.

Here's a picture of mine from yesterday. This isn't a problem we usually have when casting footprints, but my poor SOCO yesterday was having a nightmare!

(And no, it wasn't at Sherlock's school. Although I've perhaps foolishly promised Sherlock we can cast our mouths sometime... foolish because I bloody hate that stuff! But...well, he asked nicely. I'll see if Danger wants to volunteer instead. Probably not the first time he's had a large amount of something pink going hard in his mouth... ;) )

The boys made us breakfast this morning, and let us have a lie in. I needed it - at some point last night I'd managed to get the sheet we sleep under tucked around my face, and when John rolled over and it tightened I woke up with a massive adrenalin surge. Which woke him up. We both laughed about it... once we'd both got over our respective shocks!

Then we headed off to swim. Sherlock is determined to master every major stroke before next term.

We've done a bit of allotmenteering, tidied the flat a bit, walked the dogs, baked biscuits and eaten big baked potatoes!

26 July 2013

Don't you think it's sometimes wise not to grow up?

Happy Birthday Sir Mick!

The plants in my last post were chickpeas. The pods are weird - like green bubbles of air, but inside somewhere is a little chickpea or two.

I've had a lovely day today - well, I'd prefer having more John in it, but you know, can't be helped! He was called out early, so I had the boys to entertain right from the off :)

We had pancakes (don't hate me, John!), then I really wanted to get some guitar practice in, so I strung up loads of wool from the bannisters to the wall (sorry about the sellotape, Mrs H...) and challenged Sherlock to get through it all like lasers, not touching any, as if he was robbing somewhere. To encourage him I promised him an ice cream sundae if he managed it.

Anyway, lots of arguments and 'You touched it!/no I didn't!/Yes you DID' conversations later (I'll get bells to put on the string next time, cheeky little theif.) he got there, I'd had a good hour of guitar playing, and we all headed to the park before the dogs got trapped in the web.

30 June 2013

One man come in the name of love

Yesterday was lovely. Today was lovely too! But yesterday we fetched Mycroft, went to Pride, took the boys to the place we've picked for the wedding, and everything was just...lovely, and sunny, and wonderful.

Here's a small portion of Sherlock's sticker collection for you:

He got John and I matching ones of the middle ones, and was very proud of himself for doing so :) It was a sweet gesture.

He also go countless flyers, condoms, keyrings, whistles, lube - all sorts! Basically stripped all people of all their freebies.

It was nice seeing the Met there - both in the parade and policing it. Some of the coppers policing it were absolutely covered in stickers by the end :)

There were, as always, some characters. Some amazing outfits. Some fetishwear.

I do understand why some people don't like it... Bry always used to say it was ridiculous, trying to get people to accept us as normal by parading through the streets in sparkly pants and dressed in fetishwear. I don't entirely disagree - but no-one says you have to do that. Plenty of people were just there, dressed normally, promoting causes or not. And I love it because I can be there, in public, and in an atmosphere that I know I can watch while I'm hugging the man I'm going to marry, and not get any comments, or 'looks'. Just smiles.

Then we had tea.

Yes, that is a glass of champagne ;) We were all stuffed afterward. Apart from the bottomless pit, who probably could have eaten another.

John was called out last night, so he slept in while Sherlock and I tackled cleaning Sherlock's room. He was moaning because one of the dogs had slightly chewed something - which had been left on the floor. Much better now. Then we had breakfast, and headed off for a swim, which was great. Sherlock's currently addicted to jumping in and then fetching things off the bottom - mainly our locker key, as it's all we have. He is determined that by the end of the summer he'll be able to dive in 'properly'. So we're working with that.

Then ice cream and the allotment. Despite caring for his caterpillars at home very carefully (they should be turning into chrysalis any time now!) Sherlock took on the task of searching for caterpillars and eggs on the allotment with great gusto today.

We investigated our 'early' potatoes today, too. Just about ready! I mean, we could take some now, but they are pretty small. But I reckon in a week, maybe, our first home-grown spuds!

Mainly today was weeding and watering. Reg was there, for a bit of advice. And asking about Mrs Hudson ;) He says our onions and things would be ready if it wasn't for the crap weather. And he's a bit gloomy now we're past the longest day, about their prospects. I mean, they're fine, just small. I think he forgets that what's disappointing to him is all new and exciting for us!

And finally, something Sherlock wants you all to see.

Anyway, hopefully this glorious weather continues. Although a bit wasted on work...

21 June 2013

They won't fight back. I'm sure they know how. Beings that love are too proud.

Bumped into a mate yesterday. We knew each other in our twenties - just friendly faces in the crowd, but still, we both recognised each other as we were waiting for coffee. So we had lunch. Nice meeting up with people from back and then and finding out they're all grown up too. Sometimes you sort of feel like somehow you got old and boring and everyone else stayed fun. Or maybe I just feel like that because Bry told me it was true... Anyway. Jason's a butler. And a really nice guy. Who undoubtedly knows a lot of people's secrets :)

Murray and John came and met us for lunch. Murray had escaped being made into fertiliser, and was carrying a bunch of chard as if he was strangling it. I'm 99% sure he won't have eaten it... Murray?

I had to go and see a family today, talk about going to court soon. It's hard, watching people being so brave, trying to hold it all together. You want to tell them it's okay if they want to cry and scream and tell you how unfair it is. But you know, saying that would probably make them lose it. Stiff upper lip and all. People often tell us that they don't know how we do it. I always make a point of telling my new team members that it's fine to be emotional about a case - but there's a time and a place. They can cry on my shoulder, on their own in the bogs, at home - anything. But other times you hold it together no matter what, because it's not about you. Some take to it better than others.

19 June 2013

The eyes take on a certain gaze, And leave behind the springtime days

Sherlock has just told me that the RHS has a plant that's about to flower that's 8 feet tall, eats sheep and has enough nectar for a human to drink. Obviously he wants one.

He's telling me this, and talking at about a million miles an hour, because Mrs Hudson came up a short while ago with a small package the postman delivered while John was out taking Sherlock to school...

Caterpillars! And nettles. We're about to transfer them to their new home, complete with some nettles. But I think they eat lots, so we'll need more...

Don't ask me which ones those are, because they all look the same.

As you've been reading, John and I are finally getting organised :)

Some of it's...some of it's odd, for me, because you know, inevitably there are echoes of the last time. But I'm just so, so happy, that...well, it's John, it's really happening.

We're not planning anything elaborate. Just us, close friends and family, flowers, the place has provision for food and alcohol...still got to decide what we're wearing, how we're arriving, who's doing what, exactly, all that. But, you know, in the grand scheme of it, nothing matters.

If it's as hot as today I'll really want my shorts and flip flops. I didn't leave my office all day, and was basically a puddle of sweat. It's not actually hot, just humid and almost constantly grey and looking like it will rain - although it did clear up to blue haze this afternoon.

I just can't wait to go and give our notice to marry to the authorities now. We're both scrabbling about to find all our paperwork.  :)

Carla said she might want to carry flowers, but she's not sure. I have a feeling she's waiting to see what Mycroft does ;)

Mycroft had his Latin exam today. He said it was okay, in a typical casual teenager way. And he has his last one on Friday - then he's free! Well, free of exams, until next year. Just the long wait for results now... at least, it seems long!
