For a minute there I lost myself

Well, I have to say, I was won over by the Olympic opening ceremony. Some of it was still... well, didn't quite hit the mark. Other bits were pure genius.

I hear that some station in the USA broadcast it. I don't actually have words for the fact they cut the moments of remembrance for those in the stadium who had lost someone, and the victims of the 7/7 attacks.

For those who don't know/remember, it was announced London had been awarded the Games on 6/7. A day of elation, and not even 24 hours later some people tried to bring the city to its knees. And failed. But they did kill 52 people, and themselves. And they did injure hundreds of others, and change even more lives for ever.

To cut that moment out of the ceremony, and replace it with an athlete who could have been interviewed any time... well, it beggars belief.

Between Mitt Romney and that, the UK press isn't very well disposed to the US right now.

Anyway...well, I was going to say on to happier things, but I don't suppose it is, really.

That's a picture of part of the cemetery that Steve's buried in. It's very peaceful, very overgrown, full of wildlife. He'd have appreciated it. I cleaned up his grave a little, but he wouldn't have wanted people to meddle with nature. So we left some flowers, and sat nearby, and talked. And John was fantastic and incredibly kind to listen to me.

Today I was on duty in central London. In uniform. General organisation of officers, searches, snipers, ready to act if anything happened.... yeah, all right, it was mainly giving tourists directions and answering questions about the queen.

Then John and the boys came to find me right at the end of the shift - I think John just wanted to see my uniform again, personally. But they brought me coffee, and, given I seem to keep failing to sleep, that was a very good thing.

And now I'm off for three days! Freedom! Lie ins!...oh, wait...well, on-call and only have to get up when Sherlock does, anyway ;)

That looks like a beautiful place for Steve to rest :-) I'm glad it was a positive experience for you with John and I'm sure he was happy to know more about the things that made you the wonderful and caring person that he knows now.

Lie ins go out of the window as soon as you have the joy of children in your life but I hope that Sherlock will see the value in letting you catch up on your sleep, it will give you far more energy to take him on adventures later in the day after all ;-)

Greg Lestrade said...

I will put forward that logic!

why would anyone think it was OK to cut stuff like that from the ceremony? There would be hell on if we cut something about 9/11

Some of us aren't very well disposed to urselves right nw.

I pressed enter too early. Enjoy your days off. Do you guys have plans?

"Between Mitt Romney and that, the UK press isn't very well disposed to the US right now."

Yeah, there's a lot of us who aren't too thrilled with being ourselves right now, either. I don't know what the heck they were thinking, but it was entirely inappropriate.

I hope you and the others have a great rest of the day, and your days off are peaceful and filled with naps and adventures.

answering questions about the queen Where can we see her parachuting next? What are the corgis called?

Greg Lestrade said...

Lots of people are also unimpressed with one of the Tory MPs making stupid comments. The press are all over everyone now. Nowt quite like the British Press...

Greg Lestrade said...

...these gymnasts are doing better roly-polies than I did the other week.

pandabob said...

You have a whole year to practice before next year ;-)

Are you baking this evening or making a model something or are you finally sitting down and resting? your ability to keep going is beyond amazing!!

Greg Lestrade said...

I'm not even in charge of the buttons for the TV, that's how little I'm doing.

Just making a mild case to watch the Bond film. Or have John re-enact bits. Either way.

pandabob said...

I'm glad you've stopped and your boys are looking after you :-)

Are there any sleeping scenes in the Bond film? I'm sure John would happily join you in re-enacting them ;-)

Scottish Anon said...

I was just going to ask if you watched the mens gymnastics earlier. I feel kinda bad watching it as I'm blatantly only doing so because of the giant muscles and little clothing.

As a woman, I roll my eyes at my brother drooling over the womens' beach volleyball and I maintain that's worse (because sex object is the default for women but not men) but I'm on thin ice I think...

But good lord are those gymnasts fit...

Greg Lestrade said...

The giant muscles don't do much for me. But I do think gymnastics is amazing, all that power and grace.

Going to have to go to bed. I'm asleep on my feet. Just made a coffee and then lost it because I'd put it in the fridge by accident.

Anonymous said...

Scottish Anon, I like watching the men's gymnastics because they seem to do more of the strength moves than women, but I like to watch the male divers for the very reason you mention, lol.

pandabob said...

Shame it wasn't the freezer Greg Sherlock could have had his frozen coffee ;-)

Sleep well.

A from NW (who finds corgis adorable) said...

Greg - I hope you sleep soundly and have a bit of a lie-in, Sherlock alarm or not. :)

I loved the Opening Ceremony. Do you think there's any chance of the BBC selling DVD copies in the future? (Yes, I just want to get my hands on the dance music. ^.^)

~A from NW (who had too much coffee last night)

Scottish Anon said...

OK I was exaggerating somewhat, it's not just the muscles (muscled guys generally don't do it for me) I think it's more how they use them (no innuendo here, carry on)

Just the sheer facility they have with their bodies. What they can do.

I've been going to the gym since the turn of the year and my goal is to be able to do a chin-up. When you translate what these guys (and gals) are doing into normal human terms it's mind-blowing!

Anon Without A Name said...

The cemetery is beautiful, Lestrade, it looks like good place for sharing memories. I'm glad you're having a restful evening, and I hope you manage to get a bit of a lie-in the next few mornings.

Anonybob - IIRC there's definitely a scene in a bedroom. Not sure quite how much sleeping was going on...

Scottish Anon - I'm fascinated by the combination of power and control that the gymnasts show. Incredible. I wish that womens' gymnastics focussed on the same qualities (which I have no doubt that the competitors have) rather than expecting the competitors to add dips and flourishes and dance steps whenever possible. Good luck with your goal :-)

Greg Lestrade said...

AfNW - YouTube are apparently selling the soundtrack. And the Beeb are, I think, repeating the whole thing on a Saturday afternoon. So maybe a DVD could happen?

Really am asleep now. Night all

Anon Without A Name said...

For US folk, the video in this link of the in memoriam section of the opening ceremony might work, if you're interested and haven't found it elsewhere.

For reference, 'Abide With me' is strongly associated with sport in the UK; it's sung before the FA Cup every year, for example.

Hope you get a nice peaceful night's sleep, Lestrade, and a bit of a lie-in :-)

Anonymous said...

Anon - thanks for the link, I stuck it on my facebook page with a suitably snarky comment about NBC...I wouldn't be surprised if they did it in retaliation for the IOC's stance on including a memorial silence for Munich in the Opening Ceremony...

As has already been said above, a lot of us are having a hard time with the US right now, it's particularly bad when you live here....

Hope you're having a good night's sleep gentlemen and Sherlock doesn't wake you too early...

REReader said...

And please, don't confuse a politician who is loathed by a large percentage of Americans and a corporate giant with the rest of us! As has already been said, we're not all too happy with them, either. :(

That cemetery is a truly lovely resting place, it looks peaceful and natural and healing.

I hope you all find something fun and relaxing to do on your days off, L, within the distance you can go while on-call!

(Whereas I am already thirsty, and it's less than 2-1/2 hours into the fast. :( )

Anonymous said...

I wrote NBC first thing and grumbled. Loudly. Of all the things to cut out! And the commentators never mentioned it either.

NBC is also livestreaming everything but the opening and closing ceremonies (where the most ad revenue is) BUT the livestreams are only available to people who are paying for a cable package. Not exactly fair, is it?

/fussing

I hope you can get a chance to sleep in, L, and that Sherlock gets over his strop in time to enjoy having you home for a few days.

The cemetery is lovely. And I'm so glad you were able to take John with you.

Hm... what else was there. Gymnasts... Yes, I like watching gymnasts, but I like circus tumblers better. I did have fun watching the women's volleyball, though. The Korean team really made the US team work for it, and that's so much more interesting than a blowout win.

Whoa, NBC must have been slammed with comments. I just got an email back saying that they're going to put the opening ceremony online. They don't say in what condition yet... So far I only see a few clips.

Greg - Thanks for the tip. I know iTunes is selling a soundtrack (and unfortunately, I'm not in London at the moment, so no access to BBC. Er, legally. (Should I even be going down this road on a police officer's blog?!))

Anon - Thanks for the link.

rsf - I can imagine clips or lots of ads with clips... I suppose NBC's PR people have pointed out that it's not good to appear profit-driven....

RR - I imagine that someone in his campaign is beating their head against the wall and wondering, "Did you even read the briefing notes we gave you?" The potential consequences of this on American reputation abroad, now and past November, are...food for thought. (And I mean that as an observation :))

That's why I said the British *press* isn't very well disposed to the US. Don't confuse them with the rest of us, either.

REReader said...

Gotcha. Good. Thanks, L. Because, you know, at the moment Romney holds NO public office, he's just a wannabe, and represents NOBODY. I for one hope he never gets any nearer the White House than he's already been.

And right now I am wholely enraged with the IOC for this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics/judo/9433680/London-2012-Olympics-Lebanon-judo-team-refuse-to-train-alongside-Israel.html. It's not enough to refuse to acknowledge the 1972 tragedy outside the Olympic Village, not for them. Shall they next ask the Israelis to drink from separate water fountains?

(It's almost 6 and I haven't slept one. Single. Minute. This is going to be a nightmare fast.)

Desert Wanderer said...

Oh my goodness, Lestrade! There's pictures of you in your uniform on the internet!

Look!

REReader said...

That's marvelous, DW!! :D

Desert Wanderer said...

Also, possibly a pic of Doc?

Only Lestrade can confirm that one.

REReader said...

*steps out of NannyGlare-shot before laughing*

Greg Lestrade said...

Uncanny, DW!

Although I have to point out that's a PC uniform, not DI....

That is an uncanny resemblance to the doc though.

Anon Without A Name said...

Don't worry, ReRe, we know who Mitt Romney is:-)

I'm not commenting on those (wonderful) photos, for fear of getting glared and/or arrested :-p

Greg Lestrade said...

Nameless - and anyone who didn't before he turned up here does now.

Desert Wanderer said...

Does the uncanny resemblance to the Doc include the tutu?

Anonymous said...

*snicker* I love both pictures.

Have you found John and the boys, yet, L?

rsf

Greg Lestrade said...

Yeah, I found them :)

pandabob said...

DW thanks for the pics :-) I can even brave a nanny John glare to laugh at those ;-)

How's the day going everyone?

I hope you are having a fun day the four of you :-)

John H. D. Watson said...

I utterly deny any resemblance to a hedgehog, with or without tutu, but that is the very image of Lestrade. Ha.

REReader said...

It is a very adorable hedgehog, though!

Desert Wanderer said...

We never see ourselves as others see us, Doc.

John H. D. Watson said...

So true. But if I get to pick between Daniel Craig and a hedgehog in a pink tutu, I know which one I'm going for...

Desert Wanderer said...

I believe you'll find it's purple, thankyouverymuch. How can you expect to be a good nanny if you can't even tell your colo(u)rs?

I'm sure Lestrade would help, if you asked nicely. Perhaps a bit of a...hands-on experiment to turn something a nice shade of dark pink (or even red, if you're attentive enough) so as to compare it with something purple, like these, perhaps.

John H. D. Watson said...

Hey, how did you find a picture of his work cuffs online?? He had them custom made!

REReader said...

Well, you know, DE is a master of the online search--look how she found those pictures of the two of you. ;)

Are you all having a fun day away from tourist madness?

REReader said...

DW, not DE...

Desert Wanderer said...

Bwahaha. I could tell you, but then I'd have to...

Do nothing, really. I like you too much. :)

Also, custom-made, eh? And do they get much use?

Greg Lestrade said...

Not nearly enough, DW...

John H. D. Watson said...

You need to arrest more glamorous criminals, that's all.

Desert Wanderer said...

Maybe it's the color? Doc clearly has an affinity for pink. And greay. :P

Anon Without A Name said...

...and copper :-p

Greg Lestrade said...

Copper is indeed his favourite, it seems. Can't get enough of it ;)

Desert Wanderer said...

Speaking of present coppers, isn't someone's birthday coming up? I thought someone shared August with me...

Greg Lestrade said...

When's yours, DW?

Desert Wanderer said...

I asked you first, Lestrade.

Greg Lestrade said...

I don't know anyone with a birthday in August.

Desert Wanderer said...

Isn't yours the...4th or something?

Greg Lestrade said...

No, I gave mine to the queen, so she could have two. I'm generous like that. Neverneverland has no need for birthdays.

Desert Wanderer said...

Uh huh. And thus depriving Doc and the boys (and, you know, other people who like you) of an opportunity to celebrate you? Or, if you prefer, an opportunity to poke gentle fun as you?

Are you now Peter Pan? And does that make Doc Wendy?

Greg Lestrade said...

The Doc is actually Tinkerbell. ALthough I can't remember the reasoning behind that...

Feel free to celebrate me any time, I don't like to see people deprived :)

Desert Wanderer said...

Something to do with looking good in short dresses/tutus, perhaps? Or a magic....wand?

I went back and looked. It's the 5th, isn't it?

John H. D. Watson said...

I can't remember the reasoning either but I'm sure it was unsound.

Desert Wanderer said...

Help us out here, Doc. When's Lestrade's birthday?

Also, unsound reasoning on this blog? I am shocked. Shocked, I say!

REReader said...

That's what I was thinking, DW. And also that it will be really hard for Mycroft and especially Sherlock to top last year's gifts. (And John, too. :))

Greg Lestrade said...

The fifth...err, no, that doesn't ring a bell, DW.

RR - No one needs to top anything.

Greg Lestrade said...

(Well...not top in the sense you mean.)

pandabob said...

If you don't have a birthday you don't get any older it's a fact ;-)

I think we are all happy to celebrate your wonderfulness whenever we get the chance Greg :-)

Greg Lestrade said...

Does that mean people born on leap years are very youthful, and that the Queen is 160-odd, AnonyBob?

Desert Wanderer said...

I don't think it's that hard for anyone to top Doc, RR. You'd just need a stepstool, and you're in there like swimwear.

Greg! Lying on a public blog, where anyone can see! For shame.

Greg Lestrade said...

I haven't lied about anything!

John H. D. Watson said...

It's the 6th. I don't know about topping last year, but I'm sure we'll come up with something...

pandabob said...

It may well do Greg ;-)

For information RR 'top' is never a word to use around here, I understand that you have no understanding of why ;-) (I don't believe you're as innocent as you say you are really ;-) )

Greg Lestrade said...

Aaaaaw, Dooooooooooc, I nearly had them believing I was Peter Pan!

Desert Wanderer said...

Well, then, I'm ashamed. I apologize for calling you a liar, Lestrade. I'm sure it'll be a great one. Does your current schedule have you having it off?

Fair's fair, the 17th.

John H. D. Watson said...

But I refuse to be Tinkerbell. We'll get you one of those winged bikes for your birthday instead.

pandabob said...

Does your current schedule have you having it off?

should think that's a certainty DW ;-)

Desert Wanderer said...

Er, getting it off, that is.

Desert Wanderer said...

That's not any better!

The day. Not being required to perform your DI-ly duties at your normal place of work on that day in particular.

REReader said...

I just meant that Spider, a proper tea, and a hotel in a prison are all pretty amazing.

Anon Without A Name said...

I think you had it right the first two times, DW :-)

pandabob said...

is it not an early day DW? this new shift pattern is too confusing :-(

Greg Lestrade said...

I do plan to have it off, DW, but I'm working earlies. Unless I can swing something, but really, I can just wait, do the two earlies, and enjoy the three days off, rather than messing with my shift pattern now.

You can refuse all you like, Doc, but if you get fighty I'll overturn a glass onto you.

Desert Wanderer said...

Sounds sensible. And those three days will be fantastic, I'm sure!

I never really understood the appeal of Tinkerbell. She seemed jealous and controlling to me. Your Tinkerbell, on the other hand...

Greg Lestrade said...

My Tinkerbell is entirely amazing in every way.

I may have to rename him, to show a. he's a him and b. he's not the jealous controlling type.

Tinkerballs? ;)

Desert Wanderer said...

Tinkerbeau?

John H. D. Watson said...

I'd prefer Captain Hook.

Greg Lestrade said...

You'd have to be Captain Looks. On account of your very good ones.

John H. D. Watson said...

When you refer to my Looks now, I never know which ones you mean...

Greg Lestrade said...

Only the good ones, Darling.

Desert Wanderer said...

That's Captain Darling to you, Blackadder.

*cough* Sorry. Bit of something in my throat.

REReader said...

No, no, Darling was Wendy's last name, not Captain Hook'ss!

*checks converter* 9 C is pretty cold! I hope it warms up some during the day with all the tourists and athletes there.

Only good common sense.

Sherlock said...

What happened to her stomach where the baby was, does it just get all sucked back in?

Greg Lestrade said...

No idea. Ask John. Only time I've been near a full uterus was when I was living in it.

REReader said...

Sherlock, John would know much better than me (and anyone who has had a baby themselves would know more than I do, too!), but I can give you a general answer, if you want.

REReader said...

Right!

The part of her stomach that was the baby and the amniotic fluid (liquid in there to protect the baby, like a shock absorber) comes out when the woman gives birth, so her stomach is smaller than before she had the baby right away. But her uterus and muscles have been all stretched out to hold the baby, and that takes a while to get as small as it was before, so that goes away more slowly. Also, very often the woman puts on some weight that isn't part of the baby when she is pregnant--the body wants to store fat to help feed the baby after birth. When a woman nurses, she makes hormones that help her uterus get smaller, and also she is feeding the baby out of her body, so that takes stored fat out of her body, too, if she eats sensibly. So that helps her stomach get smaller faster.

(If I've got any of that wrong, I hope someone will correct me!)

REReader said...

Is that what you wanted to know, Sherlock?

Sherlock said...

Is it all floppy like an empty bag at first and how long until it goes away?

Desert Wanderer said...

I thought mothers were like TARDISes (TARDISi?), RR--bigger on the inside than the outside.

But not to be dyed blue with Kool-Aid powder in the shower head, lest one spend the ENTIRE summer of one's fourteenth year scraping and painting the houses on one's street in an act of penance.

...hypothetically.

REReader said...

Is it all floppy like an empty bag at first and how long until it goes away?

It's not floppy, no--for most women (and there is a lot of individual variation!) it just looks like the woman is still pregnant, just not as big as right before having the baby. And how long until it goes away has a lot of variation, too; sometimes it goes fast and sometimes slow. For my sisters and friends, most (but not all) of the extra weight and sticking-out part went away over the first six weeks to three months. (For some women it takes longer, for some it goes a little faster, but that's my second-hand experience. And for a lot of women, the last 5 or so pounds won't go away until after they stop nursing, because the body wants to save fat to feed the baby with.

DW--NO ONE should be dyed with Kool-Aid of any color! That is a good way to get into lots of trouble and nothing else. :D

Sherlock said...

I want to dye someone.

If it's not floppy and the baby and all the stuff is out then what's in it? Could you put things in it and smuggle them? You could get lots in something the size of a baby.

REReader said...

Nothing is in there, Sherlock, so the woman's stomach is a softer than when the baby was in there. But about putting things in there--you should probably ask John about that, because I don't know if it's possible or not, but even if it is possible, I don't think it would be a good idea--it's pretty easy to damage a person's insides, for one thing.

As for smuggling things inside people--I think you should ask Lestrade, he would likely know a lot more about it than I do.

ryo said...

That's an interesting idea, Sherlock, and I'm sure someone has tried it, but it's actually quite dangerous. Too easy to get a life-threatening infection doing that. You can go into shock.

Don't worry, Lestrade. Everyone who knows you is morally obligated to at least pretend to be happy to look at pictures of your niece. So be as obnoxious as you like. :)

Haven't caught any of the Olympics yet -- totally swamped right now. Plus, no TV. Sorry to hear Romney is now spreading his idiocy to other countries. Though, if he'd _stay_ there... :)

ryo

REReader said...

(And although I can see the possibilities in it, I would NOT recommend it--you saw what DW said happened to her! And I suspect John would feel the same way even if it was you you dyed and you didn't mind. Alas.

However, you always have the chance of getting body painted for special occasions!)

REReader said...

Though, if he'd _stay_ there...

Now THERE's an idea! *gracious* Romney may stay overseas for all of me. He can go visit his untaxed assets, it would be so nice for him!

Anonymous said...

Sherlock, while the baby was inside the uterus it was pressing against some of the mother's other internal organs, so they would take up some of the space once the baby is out.

Also, the uterus has muscles which are used to push the baby out, and I suspect they'd still be in "push it all out" mode after the pregnancy, to try to get rid of anything that might cause an infection. So putting something in where the baby was would be hard, and it probably wouldn't last for long.

People have tried to smuggle things inside themselves, but with modern detection methods it doesn't work very well, and far too often it causes damage to the courier.

rsf

Greg Lestrade said...

Yeah, depending what it is you're smuggling, and in what orifice, bad things have happened to people, Sherlock.

pandabob said...

Baby pictures are lovely Greg and I hope you find lots of people to share them with Greg :-)

Sherlock - I have to say that my stomach post baby felt exactly like an empty shopping bag, I still looked pregnant when it was covered but for about a week it was horrid! it quickly shrinks back through because the human body is amazing ;-)

Anon - I don't know about the song thing, I'm glad you liked Mycroft's birthday song though :-) I would happily celebrate our wonderful DI on his birthday but I think some people believed my 'song for every occasion theory' ran as far as commenting on a post Greg asked us not to (and they've been annoyed by it)so it's put me off a bit.

I hope a good, fun and relaxing day has been had by all and that a lovely evening lies ahead :-)

Anonybob

Sherlock said...

So it is floppy? I think it would be if suddenly there's no baby or fluid in there

pandabob said...

yes Sherlock it is, you know when you blow up a balloon and then you leave it for a bit and the air leaks out and it goes all crinkly? it's kind of like that :-)

Sherlock said...

That's exactly like I said to John!

REReader said...

(I shall have to tell my sisters they were unusual/lucky! They were a bit saggy around the middle just at first, but not floppy. :))

pandabob said...

I've always thought you to be a very clever boy Sherlock :-)

(everyone is different like you said RR)

Desert Wanderer said...

I think you'll find i said hypothetically, RR, not that it actually happened to me. :)

Sherlock, the harder part is getting someone to agree to be dyed, like for a worthy cause or something. I wasn't smart enough to jave managed it, but you and Mycroft miht be.

Anonymous said...

The muscles of the abdomen take longer to get back to their original shape than the uterus does, Sherlock. The uterus was about 500 times its original size when the baby was in it, and it keeps on contracting after the baby is out. In a week it's already half shrunk, and in a month it will be back to it's original size and only weigh a few ounces. (At least, according to the books here at my library.) So even if the mom's stomach still looked kind of saggy, the uterus itself is shrinking pretty fast.

rsf

Anon Without A Name said...

Lestrade - yeah, it was me whinging about the unnecessarily large temperature changes. Bloody weather.

Sounds like you're very much enjoying being a new uncle again :-) I must admit, most baby photos tend to look the same to me, even when I'm related to the babies in question :-p

DW - were anyone of my acquaintance to have hypothetically dyed anyone - their mother, perhaps - blue, I would obviously look serious and disapproving. But secretly I'd be impressed and giggling. Hypothetically.

John H. D. Watson said...

How long did the blue last? Hypothetically.

REReader said...

All that comes to mind is this.

I have the Olympics going on in the background while I'm working, and they had rowing heats this morning, which reminds me--did you have have a go at rowing this past year, Mycroft? I know you were thinking of giving it a try. It looks so elegant and easy, although it takes a lot of skill and strength.

Kool aid dye (for hair at least) is like henna tattoos. The color is noticeable for a lot longer if your hair is fair than if it is dark. Figure a couple of days if you shampoo a lot to a month if you're really fair, or the koolaid was hot when you put it on your head.

I don't believe I ever spoke about rowing, ReReader. I did mention canoeing, but I haven't tried it yet.

I am sorry about that Anonybob and I don't think I will be the only one :( I understand why you would worry though because you do seem to have had some trouble since that anon blog post. I have to admit I thought you'd written the song.

I hope you didn't mind me asking.

I must have confused the two in my memory, sorry, Mycroft!

how many people would it take to convince you to write something pandabob rather than you worrying about the anon who might have a problem with it? it would be fun to see all the nice things about Lestrade in one song for his birthday.

Seriously HM and anon I don't need anyone to convice me to do it, it'll get written in my head whether I share it or not but that's simply because it's what my brain does.

Greg seems to want a nice quiet birthday with the wonderful man and boys in his life and that's what he deserves (more than he himself believes he does)

I'd be honoured if you felt like sharing, but yeah, quiet is fine by me.

How long did the blue last? Hypothetically.

Long enough.

Long enough is good, DW. Much better than my "too long." (And it's really hard explaining blue hair to potential employers, too...)

I believe it. Was yours blue by choice?

Anonymous said...

Yes, but I only thought it was going to be for Halloween. Not Christmas. (It was only faintly blue by then, but in the right light, it still showed. Especially on the grey.)

Did that make you part of the blue rinse brigade RSF, or is that just an English phenomenon?

Anonymous said...

SH - I suppose it would at that! Although I think the blue rinses are probably subtler than koolaid blue. When it was just done it looked pretty good -- most of my hair is dark brown, so only the grey bits were bright blue and the rest was just sort of hinting at blue. Later on, though, it looked like I'd been wearing a leaky blue hat in the rain.

DW you do get up to a lot of hypothetical mischief, don't you? :P

I would NEVER get into a prank war with you, or I'd form an alliance with you sharpish :)

(And does it work with other colours of KoolAid?)

Jaws, my father once told me "never start it, but always finish it." One of my first report cards said I had "an overabundance of energy and creativity frequently untempered by adequate forethought." Still working on that forethought piece. It's a miracle I've not been fired yet.

I would imagine so, although some colors might not show as well. Or be as striking (like orange, for example). Hypothetically.
