Happy Birthday Doc!

Happy birthday to my amazing husband.

He means the world to me. His kindness, generosity, spirit and love improve not just my world, but that of everyone he meets.

John Hamish Lestrade Watson, I love you.

Have the happiest of birthdays, John! May the coming year be filled with love and laughter.

L - I love you too :) You make me feel like the luckiest man in the world.

Thanks, everyone.

Happy Birthday, John. Wishing you a healthy, happy year with those you love. (And some celebratory cake.)

I have a feeling this may be a vision of our future...

REReader said...

Hahahahahaha!

Cartlin said...

Happy Birthday! I'm sure it was wonderful, because of all the wonderful people in your life who love you so very much.

Sherlock said...

We are having cake because we're having afternoon tea and there's cakes and sweets and candy floss and everything and a million kinds of tea

Mycroft said...

At least a million. John is having one of each...

REReader said...

How very appropriate!

KHolly said...

Wow, I assumed Sherlock might be exaggerating about the number of types of tea, but as Mycroft doesn't seem to be one for hyperbole now I'm officially jealous.

Happy birthday John.

REReader said...

Which was your favorite, John?

John H. D. Watson said...

Let me say that there were not actually a million. But there were a few. I liked the black snail yunnan a lot. The leaves are all curled up like a snail shell.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone. It's been (and still is) a great day. :)

Sherlock said...

And we can still have pizza for dinner! And there's presents at home too.

Cartlin said...

Wow, Sherlock! That sounds fabulous! Did you make your present for John this year?

Tina said...

Happy birthday, John!

Greg Lestrade said...

Anthea has bought the moglet a gift. It's a collar with our phone number on it. She claims her contract barely covers searching for Sherlock, and definitely doesn't involve searching for stray cats ;)

REReader said...

Decorative AND useful--a definitely win-win!

Happy Birthday, John. It's really nice when other people are as excited about your birthday as you are (or more so. given that you'd forgotten)!

Greg Lestrade said...

I have bought John the same thing :)

John H. D. Watson said...

L - I was waiting for someone to make that joke...

Thanks Tina and Lancs. Anon. :)

Greg Lestrade said...

Ah, sorry I'm so predictable.

John H. D. Watson said...

I'm not complaining. Just knew that if I'd thought of it at least five other people around here had too, you among them ;)

Greg Lestrade said...

I just knew you'd like to match your new best friend.

She's definitely more confident around the dogs now. Quite happy to reach out a sharp-tipped paw.

I fear she's going to be a climber though.

Cartlin said...

....is it leather, Greg? We sure are learning much about your relationship today. ;)

Greg Lestrade said...

Of course it is!

Hasn't got his name on though, in case he just goes home with anyone who calls him ;)

Sherlock said...

I made John a card but I gave that to him this morning but he couldn't have presents then because I had to go to school even though I said I didn't have to

REReader said...

That was very self-sacrificing of you, Sherlock. ;)

Self-made cards are the best kind.

Sherlock said...

Yes I made a card for Mummy too and I made one for Lestrade to send to his Mum because he said I could and I like making cards and then John saw and I made one for his Mum too and Mycroft bought one. Mummy said maybe she'd take us out to dinner one evening this weekend if she's in London but we sent them anyway to make sure they got there.

pandabob said...

Home made cards are great Sherlock, John and your mum are very lucky as are Lestrade's and John's mums :-)

I'm glad you're having a great day John, you deserved to be spoilt rotten by your boys :-)

REReader said...

That was very lovely of you, making all those Mothers' Day cards, they should be very much appreciated! And very sensible, to send the cards to your mum ahead, so she'd get them faster. Dinner with her should be lovely, too.

Happy birthday, John! Had my own recently, but yours sounds like it's been much more fun. :)

Anthea's collar for the cat reminds me that I need to get one of those road ID bracelet things in case I get hit by a car on my bike and am unconscious. I should've gotten one a year and a half ago, when I started riding my bike 100+ miles a week, really...

Also, it is dog vs dog and not cat vs dog, but I came across this picture which seems like an accurate representation of how your menagerie seems destined to function:

Happy Birthday, John. Hope you've had a fun day with all the family round you and that you've been wonderfully spoilt all day. :)

Greg Lestrade said...

I was going to do a post about our little holiday...but you might all have to wait until tomorrow. Sorry! Got to put the boy to bed. Pictures of the beach can wait, right?

REReader said...

It just gives us something to look forward to. :)

You two enjoy the rest of Dr. Watson's birthday. For as long as you can keep your eyes open, anyway. It's a busy life.

Greg Lestrade said...

I've been given the cat and a packet of treats and told to make friends. John is making tea and watching us.

She is prodding me with her paw. I think she's saying 'Give me a treat'.

Your husband is clever, sticks to proven principles. I seem to remember him sending Sherlock to school with homemade biscuits, resulting in tentative social interchange with a schoolmate or two.

Cartlin said...

Worked with Sherlock, why not the moglet?

Happy birthday, John! I hope you're having a good birthday sleep right now ...

Sherlock, well done on all the card-making. In Australia, Mothers' Day isn't until May. Every few years it coincides with my birthday - looks like this year is one of them! I'll have no excuse to forget this year!

Greg Lestrade said...

Hope you, Mycroft, the dogs and the cat are having a nice day together, Danger? Are they united in their love of basking in the sun? (not you and Mycroft...necessarily, the 4 legged family)

happy birthday again, sounds like it was great. And thanks for always putting a smile on my face too. :) I almost feel as if I was included in the party.
Ella, that's a great pic, I love the way the Great Dane is sitting waaaay up on the couch! :D

John H. D. Watson said...

L - Yeah, pretty good. How are you doing?

Greg Lestrade said...

Busy!

REReader said...

Inquiring minds want to know: Did the treats-and-making-friends last night work? :)

Anonymous said...

Yes, did you manage to make friends with John's pussy last night Lestrade?

Greg Lestrade said...

I tried. I'm not sure if John's pussy entirely trusts me yet, but I shall keep treating it nicely and see how it goes. Possibly brush it's fur later, see where that gets me... ;)

Cartlin said...

Just remember, sometimes a firm hand is needed....

fA - now you're giving me paws for thought.

SH - Me, I'm obviously clocking in at about 8 years old right now, you made me giggle out loud. :-D

(Sshhh! Don't tell. This blog may be the Cyber-Fountain of Youth)

Greg Lestrade said...

I imagine John has been playing with his pussy all day.

Anonymous said...

Careful or you're going to spend the evening hunting for John & Mycroft's eyeballs after they roll their eyes so hard they roll on out of their heads. ;-)

fA

Anonymous said...

I think you'd find the cat would then play moggie football with them!

Greg Lestrade said...

John doesn't need his eyeballs - I heard too much of that sort of playing makes you go blind anyway ;)

How you can still spread these old wive's tales when you have a fully trained doctor in house, I'll never know.

[I am now seeing everything through such a lens that I honestly cannot think of a follow on sentence that doesn't lead somewhere too smutty for me to go. I have got to grow up.]

DW, wherever you are, you are missed! ;-)

fA

REReader said...

(I'm not sure whether DW is back from Afghanistan yet. And yes, she is!)

Greg Lestrade said...

fA - I spread all kinds of things precisely because I have a doctor in the house ;)

Anonymous said...

Nope. Not going there. Backing slowly away . . . .

Sherlock said...

I put up pictures and none of you have looked!

REReader said...

I'm sorry, Sherlock, that must be quite frustrating. I didn't get a notice that a new post went up yet, so I didn't know; I'll go look now.
