I'm beginning to suspect that you packing me enough clothes for some sort of Arctic expedition wasn't down to you being horribly bad at guessing what I'd like to wear, but instead some sort of fiendish plot...
...and that Sally telling me to 'have a nice time' and winking before I left wasn't because she imagined my three days at conference would be incredibly exciting.
...and that if I phoned work I might find out that I've somehow booked time off that I know nothing about.
Would I, Doctor, be correct in any or all of those assumptions??
Sherlock - your mum's coming to fetch you quite soon so you don't have to put up with our soppiness. I'm sure you two will have a lovely time with the snow and the degus. :)
YES! You're going to come home soon though too aren't you? Because after the next week of school it's half term and I don't want to spend all of it with just Mummy and Mycroft because I want to ride my bike and you said we might be able to go skiing on the fake snow and I don't think Mummy would like to play frisbee in the park as much as we do.
We'll be back quite soon, late Monday, ad we'll all ride bikes and go skiing and have a wonderful time. You might ask your mum about frisbee though. Maybe she'll surprise you!
Yeah :) just try and stop me smiling now. So, we staying at the hotel? If we are, I will be taking you out to a club tonight, so you better have packed your dancing shoes. If not...then you don't need to have packed anything ;)
No, no clubs where we're going. I'll drive, since you did the whole way up. And you can try to guess where we're going if you like, because I'm not telling.
I really didn't mind driving! I do sort of love the big 4x4s we seem to have on demand now. They're so comfy to drive, so much power under your foot. It's sort of hard not to speed.
But given I don't know where we're going...and I'm going to be cheering Italy on... maybe safer if you do :)
I'm happy too, because Italy nearly triumphed, played well....and we're driving in some beautiful (albeit dark) countryside, no doubt to somewhere amazing.
To those of you not lucky enough to be here, it's a mill, and old mill, way out in the peaks. And it's not just ahotel - we've got a whole apartment.
When we stopped off at the supermarket I thought maybe Danger had hired a cottage, but this is amazing. Obviously there's the water for theill, and miles of countryside. And it's bloody freezing but we might go for a bitof a walk later, in the dark, just because we can! The stars will be amazing out here.
That's if I can stop kissing John and remind myself I should put warm clothes on him, not try to remove the existing ones ;)
I TOLD Mummy about you two and the soppy kissy stuff and she laughed and said it was good and I told you you couldn't go anywhere fun and a mill sounds like fun but Mummy said it's not a windmill but a really big other sort of mill and I want pictures.
Argon and Mercury are okay but Mrs Hudson hadn't let them out of their cage at all! But she had fed them and given them their bath and water and they're okay and she stroked Argon when I got her out and said maybe next time she would pick them up but she's silly. I'm going to make sure to take them down to see her lots so next time she's not silly and scared.
Hey Sherlock! Just as I promised, I found these blogs. I'm glad your two degus are okay. My wife didn't like our girls' hamsters too much to begin with, but she's used to them now. Sounds like a great idea to take your degus down to see Mrs Hudson. Was a pleasure to meet you the other night. I'll be sure to tell Greg if I work on any interesting cases, so you can follow them in the news, okay?
Great to catch up with you again, Greg. See you next year, right? Should be down your way, I'd have thought. Unless they send us all down to your old stamping ground in Bristol.
John, lovely to meet you, mate. Thanks for putting the smile back on Greg's face. Sounds like you've got quite a weekend planned there! My missus will be jealous when I tell her you've managed to plan it all without the kids. I shall be in the dog house (again). In fact, I won't tell her, she'll get ideas!
Hi Darren, try to remember we're actually sane if you start reading back entries. I can give you the website for this place later if you like, I'm sure you and your wife would love it, with or without kids.
L - I believe I was promised pasta with things and stuff.
L - I don't know, I think a few people there found us extremely surprising! And you're never dull. Do you know last year I didn't think we'd even do anything for Valentine's Day?
Mm. One or two of them are lucky I'm too old and in love to care what they think.
I only know that because you blogged it. As if I could possibly give up an excuse to go on a date with you! You must've been mad to think such a thing.
I don't know, Sherlock, I rather like all the soppy kissy stuff. :)
I have to say, reading all that from Friday night and all of today at one go just filled me with warm happy fuzzies.
John, you clearly found absolutely the best (and possibly only) way to beat Lestrade to a special Valentine's Day! Have a wonderful weekend this weekend. ;)
Sherlock, what a week you're having--first that awesome trip to the police conference (with mummies and hearing Lestrade's talk and meeting Darren and FLYING), and now a weekend with your mum! The only thing better would of course have been if Mycroft could have been along, especially for Mycroft. (But then, that's part of what you have to take into account when he's on school break and you're not.)
I'm glad Argon and Mercury are fine, and I think your idea of taking them to visit Mrs Hudson is a good one. Maybe at first just take along one at a time, to sort of ease her into it? (I know they don't like to be alone, but maybe John or Lestrade could play with the other one until you come back upstairs.)
I know you are anyway...but have a lovely weekend, guys!
You made John snort in a Most ungentlemanly way when I read that to him.
I don't think either of us are particularly good examples of boyfriends - but we know each other, and...well, that's it, really. We're greater than the sum of our parts. I certainly dont feel like I've lost my lifelong ability to completely mess everything up!
(and I already am old and grey). ;) but definitely no plans to retire.

Yeah, yeah, think you can get away with anything with your innocent cute little smile.
(you can. It's true.)
you'll find out soon enough!
Now is 'soon enough'. You infuriating (but lovely) man.
You will suffer for this...
Doubt that. :)
I'm beginning to suspect that you packing me enough clothes for some sort of Arctic expedition wasn't down to you being horribly bad at guessing what I'd like to wear, but instead some sort of fiendish plot...

I suppose that might be possible...
You sneaky, sneaky, gorgeous man.
I don't know what I did to deserve you, but every single day you're in my life I'm bloody grateful for it.
Don't get too excited, you don't even know where weree going yet! (And I feel incredibly lucky that I've got you too.)
Hang on, let me consult my checklist.
Q1. Are you going somewhere with John?
A: Yes.
Result: If you answered mainly 'yes' to the above then excitement is warranted. If you answered mainly 'no', then excitement is not applicable.
That answers that, then.
You're getting all soppy AGAIN and I want to go home to my degus and snow.
Sherlock - your mum's coming to fetch you quite soon so you don't have to put up with our soppiness. I'm sure you two will have a lovely time with the snow and the degus. :)

And you're not allowed to go to a castle or a windmill or a fortress without me!
We'll be back quite soon, late Monday, ad we'll all ride bikes and go skiing and have a wonderful time. You might ask your mum about frisbee though. Maybe she'll surprise you!
You are...an exceptional man, John Watson. And I love you.
I think smug is the word you're looking for. ;) Told you I had a surprise worked out! And I love you too.
Ah ha! Well done, Doc. :)
Have a great time, all of you.
I didn't imagine it would be such a .. big surprise.
I'm still sort of constantly amazed that...well, that anyone would bother, for me. And it means a lot, really, a lot.
It's as much for me as it is for you, love. I like making you happy, especially when you smile like that.
Yeah :) just try and stop me smiling now. So, we staying at the hotel? If we are, I will be taking you out to a club tonight, so you better have packed your dancing shoes. If not...then you don't need to have packed anything ;)

I really love living vicariously through you two.
I would say have fun, but that seems an entirely unnecessary instruction.
DW and Kholly - thanks, I think we'll have fun. :)
L - You do that, I'm sure they'll need all the help they can get...
Hey, still 0-0 at the moment. Report says it snowed there before kick off, pitch is a bit snowy...England might lose each other against the white :)
It was nice to see Sherlock so excited to see his Mum, huh?
Sneaky John! I hope you both have a great weekend!
Have to admit, I'm glad it's not me playing in those conditions.
It was nice to see Sherlock so excited to see his Mum, huh?
Yeah, that was lovely. She looked pretty pleased too.
Pip - thanks, I think we will. :)
Damn. England got a kick over. :(
Thanks Pip, DW, KHolly, I'm sure we'll have a great time, wherever we're going.
Mummy and I are playing Yellow Car!
GOOOOOOOOOO ITAAALIAAAAA!
Oh, Danger, you seem to have gone a bit quiet there in the driver's seat...and now I have all of half time to be rather happy.
(It's Italy 12, England 6, for those of you not following)
Have loads of fun, Sherlock. Give the goos a cuddle from us.
15-6. Come on Italy, keep it up!
(Getting slightly worried Danger may kick me out of the car and make me walk.)
You'll just have to offer to make it up to him later ;)
Sherlock, have a lovely time with your Mum. There's still just a little bit of snow in some of the parks, where the dun hasn't got to it.
John, Lestrade, have a wonderful (and wonderfully filthy) weekend, wherever you're heading :-)
England try...he's starting to smile again. If they convert he might manage a grin...
Italy 15 - England 16. He's positively beaming.
Great kick Farrell.
Annddd....Danger's happy. Italy 15, England 19.
I'm happy too, because Italy nearly triumphed, played well....and we're driving in some beautiful (albeit dark) countryside, no doubt to somewhere amazing.
And now a Happy Hobbit.
And...it is amazing.
Wow.
John, thank you. A million times over. I love you.
I love you too. :) Glad you like it!

Mm. And if not, there's always tomorrow for walking.
Mm. We could just step outisde, see the stars, get back in here in the warm and celebrate our temporary lack of 6 yr old...
Tomorrow we could walk to the nearest village. Meant to be a good pub there. And there's some amazing scenery about.
Mind you, I have a pretty fantastic view right now...
Right, either you give me my jumper back and we do that now, or we're staying in the rest of the night. Up to you.
Sounds wonderful. Hope the two of you have a really great weekend.
And make sure you keep warm, one way or another ;)
It's a bit cloudy. And it's a crime to hide you away in a jumper.
I'll cook you pasta with things and stuff in a bit.
Until then, your jumper remains my hostage. My heart remains yours ;)
I TOLD Mummy about you two and the soppy kissy stuff and she laughed and said it was good and I told you you couldn't go anywhere fun and a mill sounds like fun but Mummy said it's not a windmill but a really big other sort of mill and I want pictures.

Darren
Darren, so glad Sherlock told you all about these...
Right. I was going to cook dinner, wasn't I? :)
Hi Darren, try to remember we're actually sane if you start reading back entries. I can give you the website for this place later if you like, I'm sure you and your wife would love it, with or without kids.
L - I believe I was promised pasta with things and stuff.
By 'promised' you mean 'I bought all the ingredients so things and stuff was inevitable', right? :)
This place is about twice as big as our flat...
Darren, don't feel obliged to read back. Or read at all!
Exactly. I'll help though, just tell me what to do.
It just seems twice as big because it's not full of...everything.
the thing you could do to speed this up most would be stopping being so unbelievably attractive and distracting me.
But that's probably impossible. So you can chop. And stir.
But for all this, you're definitely not allowed to help tomorrow, when you'll get breakfast in bed, no arguments.
I would argue anyway, but I know I'll probably sleep through you making it all...so I'll just say thank you. :)
Mmm. I'll make sure I tire you out tonight so you do sleep in tomorrow morning...
And look at us, eating at twenty past ten at night. Make an Italian out of you yet - even if you do support the wrong team.
By which I'll assume you mean the winning team...
It's nice, feels like a special occasiona. Which it is.
Shhh. Only just won.
It is indeed. Very special. Beats pizza and cake in the park. Not that I didn't enjoy that a lot, too.
It was wonderful, and completely unexpected. You always manage to surprise me.
Surprise you? I've been incredibly dull recently! Haven't even dragged you out on a date. (A conference doesn't count.)
The two of you are:
1. so adorable <3
2. so generous for sending some of your snow this way!
Have a GREAT night/weekend!!!!!!!!
L - I don't know, I think a few people there found us extremely surprising! And you're never dull. Do you know last year I didn't think we'd even do anything for Valentine's Day?

Thanks, DW. We are :)
Did I? That seems like an impossibly long time ago somehow. I just didn't know you as well then.
Ooh, Nanny John, being all... masterful...
It was a long time ago. A lifetime. I don't feel like the same person.
Nameless - He is. Very masterful. ;)
Oh hush, both of you.
I don't feel like the same person.
Yeah. I know what you mean.
Won't hush until you tell me to in your masterful voice...
Well, you have felt quite a lot of me...more than most ;)
Seriously, though, you're wonderful to me, and for me. Do feel like you've...given me the confidence to be myself a bit more. Thank you.
I'm glad. You're a wonderful man, and I feel honoured (and incredibly lucky) to know you.
You are too. Thank you for putting up with my mid-life crisis :)
It's very very quiet here, isn't it?
You'd better be very quiet whilst masterfully ordering me to bed...and then just...very quiet.
Hey, I thought I was your mid-life crisis! The rest is just...getting yourself back on track.
Right, get yourself in bed then, and I'll do my best. :)
you were the catalyst... it is all your fault, after all.
I'd rather like to think you'll hang around for longer than just my mid-life though.
I'm going, I'm going! No need to cross your arms and give me the look you give Sherlock when he won't go to bed!
As long as you'll have me.
I hope we have each other for a very long time.
I don't know, Sherlock, I rather like all the soppy kissy stuff. :)

Thanks RR, we certainly are!
;)
You're up awfully early, even for your "dawn chorus" habits...
(Or maybe it's that he was up late. ;))
Awww, that sounds like a great weekend plan/early Valentine present, Doc! Have fun and etc. ^_-
Good to see that Darren survived Sherlock's interrogation and is keeping in touch. Hello!
Has Sherlock asked to mummify any small dead things yet?
I wasn't 'up', just awake.
And now we're going for a walk.
Fair enough. :).
When you two are old and gray and retired, you should open a finishing school for boyfriends. <3
You are definitely not "old"! (I should know, I've several years on you, kid. :P)
Nah, don't really feel it, either (although getting glasses doesn't help!)
Won't feel old until Danger puts his Italian Lestallion out to grass ;)
The scenery around here is stunning (and for once I'm not just talking about John).
Like Sherlock, I'm looking forward to pictures (and not just to make sure you didn't go somewhere fun :)).
(That was supposed to say "somewhere too much fun". )
(And it says "someWHERE"!!!)
We've got some pictures - it's getting really foggy though! They'd just be grey now :)
It's so nice just walking and talking. Just the two of us. Lots of time. Reminds me just how lucky I am to have John in my life.
I should've taken a picture of breakfast, but it smelled too good to wait that long.
You should definitely have concentrated on eating breakfast when it was totally fresh and at its best, as you did, not scrambling about for photos!
it's so nice out here, away from traffic and shops and ...well, everything apart from the odd hardy rambler, braving the cold!
It looked good though! Picture worthy. Photogenic. Anyway, I've got a picture of the mill up now.
It really is lovely here.
