25 March 2012

Hey you with the pretty face..

Just a quick post, because I have pictures, and coffee. but the latter is just my excuse for not working for five mins while I do this.

Still haven't found our suspect, got another case on already. There's something about nice weather that makes people commit crime.

Yesterday we had a fantastic time, it was lovely to get away from it all. And the weather was stunning.

Blue sky, blossom, and it's only March.

We also found this weir, which we spent a lot of time examining, because...well, why not? It made Sherlock happy. And he didn't even 'fall' in. (Most of Sherlock's 'falling' into water is entirely on purpose.)

I sort of wish we'd taken his bike for him yesterday, too. But now I really think John and I are going to sort out getting our own, because Sherlock can ride well enough that we can all go off on adventures now. We can take them with us on John's birthday holiday next week. They'll be useful to get about on.

I'll just have to remember there isn't a throttle or gears...

I'm glad you took the excuse to put those pics up they are lovely :-)

I can't tell you how glad I am that you got such great weather to go have fun in. Sunshine might bring criminals out but it also tends to do wonders for stress and depression :-)

You're trip away for John's birthday is sounding like its going to be great fun for you all and there is no better way to spend your birthday than having fun with those you love :-)

Hope work concludes no time tonight, not many days now till you're off.

That blossoming tree is gorgeous--can Greg-the-florist tell me what kind of tree it is?

And what is a weir? It looks very interesting, with all those levels and cascades. And ii's good there was no falling to cut the inspection short... :)

(As for bicycles--useful is good. Fun is better!)

Note to self. Don't try writing on the move!

Obviously you're should have been your and it should have said hope work concludes on time. ;-)

Firstly, thank you to all of you for your good wishes: lunch with our future daughter-in-laws parents went really well. And they were indeed even more nervous of meeting us than I was of them.

My son described the repair he'd done to his motorbike, which had gone very well until he discovered petrol pouring out of the carburetor. And then he took us home via five different coach companies' depots.

Those pictures are lovely L - especially the blossom. Hope you manage to get home on time, despite gaining another case.

Greg Lestrade said...

Good to hear, SH! And almost on time, thanks.

John and Sherlock both look worn out though from their long day in the fresh air.

REReader said...

Great news, SH! That's really nice to hear.

"Worn out" can be good--sleep-inducing and all. :) (I hope you get a good night, too.)

Anonymous said...

Glad it went well SH :-)

Glad you got home somewhere near on time Greg and that John and Sherlock had such a good day :-)

As weekends go this one has to have been one of the best I would have thought even though you had to work today, no doubt next weekend will be better though ;-)

Anony

Greg Lestrade said...

Next weekend will, I hope, be amazing. I'm glued to the weather reports...but they seem good so far.

I think John had a good day - Sherlock certainly did. He's been Googling bikes for us :)

I may have to carry John to bed in a minute, he's about 98% asleep I think.

REReader said...

You wouldn't want to get bikes without the proper research, after all! (And how awesome it will be to be able to all go biking together. :) )

Woo hoo and sending lots of good vibes for good weather--and everything else--for next weekend. (And for an easier workweek for you, L.)

Good lord, DW, how do you find these things? That's brilliant!

Greg Lestrade said...

...I was expecting worse than that when I clicked that link!

I made the mistake of pre-emptively googling 'silver fox' - why do all the bikes come with such silly names? 'Silver Fox - Bad Attitude' or 'Silver Fox - Utopia'....

REReader said...

DW--what I want to know is does that come with the riding outfit? Because that would be excellent!

*goes to google silver fox bike*

Desert Wanderer said...

...I was expecting worse than that when I clicked that link!

What, from moi? I'm hurt.

Nameless, I may or may not have an arsenal of badger pictures stockpiled waiting for just the right occasion. ;)

Don't know about the outfits, RR, but I would imagine the circumstances of getting Lestrade to wear it would be practically identical to Doc's kilt...

John H. D. Watson said...

DW - I don't even know what to say...

REReader said...

I would imagine the circumstances of getting Lestrade to wear it would be practically identical to Doc's kilt

All that's needed is another ghost, then!

REReader said...

DW - I don't even know what to say...

John--True, it's a little light on the sparkles, but best try is best try, after all...

Greg Lestrade said...

Is it some sort of morning-suit type thing?

I don't mind a suit...or a top hat, even. But people only seem to wear morning suits for weddings now, and...yeah, no thanks.

Greg Lestrade said...

Don't worry, Sherlock would help add more sparkles.

Is it called bejazzling or something? Anyway, you need added sparkles, Sherlock's your boy.

John H. D. Watson said...

If you come home with that bike, it and the jacket will be very happy together in a skip somewhere.

Is that no thanks to weddings or morning suits? Or both?

REReader said...

L, you would look spiffy in a top hat and morning coat. Really, you would!

Oh, a Bedazzler!!! YES! Imagine what Sherlock could do to your clothes with one of those! (Only I think it only works on fabric. You'll have to get him a hot glue gun for the bike. And lots of rhinestones.)

Anon Without A Name said...

*studiously avoids making reference to vajazzling*

DW - I'm impressed with your preparedness.

Anonymous said...

You two in matching suits, top hats and those bikes would be just perfect as long as Sherlock had been at them with the glitter anyway ;-)

DW your badger preparedness is amazing :-)

Desert Wanderer said...

Awww, Anony. It's not just you; we have an entire song about it! Anything we can do to help?

Anonymous said...

Nice of you to ask DW but I think I'm beyond hope to be honest ;-) if I didn't think it would wake other people up I could get all my housework done at night I get so little sleep at the minute!

Anony

REReader said...

Aw, Anon, I'm sorry you're having a white night. Of course, DW is right--you've got lots of company in the insomnia thing, but that's not a whole lot of help. Let us know if you want a bedtime story, though! :)

Greg Lestrade said...

It was a no thanks to weddings with morning suits. I don't know, they always seem very...contrived, and they're not even very nice suits. All show and no substance.

I'd rather have a really nice normal suit. Well cut, smart, and useful again, after the day.

Hope you got some sleep, Anony, or some sneaky housework done.

Anonymous said...

You're right Greg :-) Beautiful, simple and long lasting what more could you want from a suit or a marriage? :-)

Sleep- I'm not sure really housework- definitely not but who needs sleep anyway? Sleep is for the weak ;-)

Hope everyone has a useful and peaceful day :-)

H. Savinien said...

Nice suits are as good eye-candy as kilts. Rhinestones should not be involved as no one here is either Elvis or Liberace.

Sounds like you guys had a nice walk, yay. Best of luck with your cases, new and ongoing.

Small Hobbit said...

I'm with L re the wedding suit. Son has bought a very nice mid-grey three-piece suit from M&S for £200. Will look very smart on the day and will continue to be useful. And apologies folks, there may be a number of wedding allusions over the next few weeks - can you tell I'm starting to get excited?

Happy Monday everyone, hope you make good progress with both your cases L and anony that you get some decent sleep some time this week.

Greg Lestrade said...

SH I think it's great you're excited. My mum went mad for Nicky's wedding. I think she was fairly excited about mine - but distance was a bit of a buffer.

Feel free to share your joy on here, really. It's nice to share good things :)

Anonymous said...

Wedding excitement is great SH, me and my sister got married within eight months of each other and my mum maintained all the excitement through planning both! I'm not sure I'd have the staying power to manage 18 months of wedding planning but I will be very excited if the time ever comes :-)

Anony

Cranky Bookwyrm said...

SH, Weddings should be joyous for all involved, and I think we'll all enjoy basking in that shared joy.

Mazarin said...

Oh, I love wedding talk, SH, so if you ever want to chatter about it, have at you! A friend of mine's daughter is getting married next year, and it's been a flurry of dresses and venues and colors and whatnot. I think its fun as all get out. And the suit - I really like this new trend for men - get a very nice suit that he can wear again, instead of renting tuxes or whatnot. (morning suits? That's still done? I love the idea in theory, but...) Anyway, how long until the actual day? And so glad your meeting of the new in-laws went well!

Happy Monday, everyone! I had chocolate cereal for breakfast so I'm about as hyper as Sherlock after a good round of ice cream!

Greg Lestrade said...

Maz - yeah, still done.

I had a really nice suit for my wedding. Only one I've ever had handmade for me. It was lovely. Reserved for evenings out at posh dos and theatre and stuff. Then I got too skinny for it and it looked a bit crap so I stopped wearing it and have no idea where it is now. Should probably get another one made sometime.

Anonymous said...

Every man should have one perfectly fitting suit Greg, whatever the reason they bought it in the first place :-) There is nothing nicer than a good looking man in a good suit which I assume is why men wear suits at weddings, it sets the tone for the rest of the day (by which I obviously mean night ;-) )

Hope work is treating you well today :-)

Anony

mazarin said...

I was asking about the suit because the trend in the States is for late afternoon weddings and evening receptions. Very few morning weddings/brunches, though a friend of mine did that, and it was lovely. But the morning suit, though you can still get one, has completely fallen by the wayside here.

And I agree with Anony - every man needs a beautifully fitted suit. It's just...its just such a lovely thing, the line of a man's back and shoulders in a well-cut jacket. Ahem.

Greg Lestrade said...

Damn, you're all making me wish i bought John a tailored suit now. But I hope he'll be happy with his pink diamante encrusted kilt and sporran instead...

Anonymous said...

One is definitely as good as the other Greg although I think you'd have more chance of getting him to wear a tailored suit than you will the kilt and sporran and thats without the pink diamantes ;-)

You'll have to get him a suit some other time :-)

Anony

John H. D. Watson said...

L - I am genuinely afraid you're serious.

I think you'd have more chance of getting him to wear a tailored suit

So true. You have no idea how true.

Anonymous said...

As a co-plotter in the kilt situation John I am sadly realising that it will never happen so a suit is the next best option ;-)

Anony

Greg Lestrade said...

No, not serious, not since you don't wear your jacket I had made for you.

A suit, however, is far more likely. But maybe for Christmas now. I've already bought your birthday presents, plus all the wrapping paper in Europe to wrap them in...and about a mile of ribbon.

John H. D. Watson said...

Had made? I thought you were claiming you made it yourself...

Is it bagpipes?

Greg Lestrade said...

I made some of it myself. With advice.

One of your presents actually has certain things in common with bagpipes, yes...

Hey, when might you be free to look at bikes? Tomorrow? They would be...useful for the weekend.

John H. D. Watson said...

Certain things? Like what?

Tomorrow's good. Will you have time after I get out of work? We could get a sandwich too if we're quick about the bikes.

Greg Lestrade said...

Yeah, well we can pretty much choose from the website, then go in tomorrow? Save some time. Evans is the biggest hols shop near me. They do a decent range.

And certain things you'll find out when I give you the present!

Greg Lestrade said...

Bike shop...

REReader said...

SH--Please do share all the wedding excitement...happy is good!

Throwing in another "yes" vote for a beautifully tailored suit or two. :)

(I'm sure I'm very nearly as curious about these presents as you are, John!)

John H. D. Watson said...

L - yeah, sounds good. How's your day going?

Greg Lestrade said...

Okay. Better for knowing every minute that passes is a bit closer to getting away with you and the boys.

Tired though. Imagine you are too, with Sherlock in a frenzy of Mycroft-sunshine-holiday excitement

Small Hobbit said...

Thanks guys for all being happy about my wedding talk. The big day is May 12th, so less than seven hat buying weeks to go.

And yes, the suit cost only £40 more than a hire one would have cost, so no contest really.

Anonymous said...

That's not long to wait SH :-) I, for one, am hoping to hear all about it but then I love a good wedding :-)

Greg it's the anticipation of time with those you love that really makes it special, people smile more in the weeks leading up to their holidays I'm sure ;-)

Piplover said...

I think a good suit is like a black dress for women; everyone should have at least one for that special occasion.

I got my black dress when I was in Korea, and was so thrilled when I tried it on the other day and it still fit.

I think there's nothing quite like getting dressed up in nice clothing to make you feel good. And there's something to be said about a man in a nice suit. Or uniform. Hmmm, uniforms...

Piplover said...

Also, sorry for being a bit loopy. Pain meds. I'll try to refrain from saying anything too out there.

Nicky said...

Oh, I thought Orio might wear his uniform for his wedding, but he refused. He'd have looked great, all dressed up and with his medals.

not that his suit wasn't very smart too.

Anonymous said...

Now thats an image to put out there Nicky, that might just win over a tailored suit I think

Anony

John H. D. Watson said...

He did look very nice in that photo.

Greg Lestrade said...

SSSHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I would have felt like an idiot in my uniform. That's...work. I'd've felt like I was there to arrest someone or something.

A nice suit was fine.

REReader said...

Photo? John, you have a photo? Show, please!

Anonymous said...

Isn't it the idea of the handcuffs in the pocket that makes the outfit though Greg?

There is something wonderful about men in uniforms or suits I don't know what it is but smart men are hot!! ;-)

Anony

Anon Without A Name said...

Medals? You have medals, Lestrade?

SH - yay for wedding joy :-) Coincidentally, a friend of mine is getting married on May 12th. I really ought to sort out something to wear.

My husband didn't own a suit when we got married, and saw no reason to change that; he had black trousers, and a black jacket... and that was more than good enough for us :-) He does owna suit now, but mainly because we attended a funeral a few years ago that had a "no black clothes" rule, so a new suit was a necessity.

I think well-cut clothes look good, and feel amazing, but I've rarely looked good enough to bother.

Agree about morning suits. The one of my brothers who wore one looked like a penguin at his wedding.

Greg Lestrade said...

Mmm. I do.

Nothing special.

Anonymous said...

You don't get medals for nothing special so you must have done at least one special thing (I'm betting it was more than one though) ;-)

Anony

John H. D. Watson said...

Nothing special? Hmm.

Greg Lestrade said...

They weren't!

Going to get another this year, for something equally non-special.

Anony - Got my Golden Jubilee Medal, will get Diamond this year. Got LSGC and QPM DS. So really, nothing special.

REReader said...

And just what are all those acronyms when they're at home?

Greg Lestrade said...

Long Service and Good Conduct and Queen's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

Greg Lestrade said...

(I had just come back to say that, having realised that was completely unclear to anyone but me)

REReader said...

Hmmmm. Distinguished Service does not sound non-special. (Neither do the rest, frankly. :))

Anonymous said...

Queens Police Medal, just a minor thing, eh?

Lancs. Anon

Anonymous said...

They all sound pretty special to me :-) Long service is something that should be rewarded in the job you do and the Queens police medal sounds very special.

You have a great way of not seeing just how special the things you do are you know :-)

Anony

Greg Lestrade said...

Lancs...well, that one's the only one I've actually done anything for, true. But I was just doing my job. And it should have gone to my whole team, not just me. I didn't get a good clear up rate on my own.

John H. D. Watson said...

Not all by yourself, but at least partly because of your leadership, I've no doubt.

Greg Lestrade said...

I think the Super thought if he put me up for it I might stop sleeping in my office and working 24/7 or something.

But apparently all I needed was a good Doctor, not a medal ;)

Anonymous said...

maybe he thought you deserved it for sleeping in your office and working 24/7?

I'm glad you've found a doc to stop you doing that though even if it means you won't get another medal for it ;-)

Anony

REReader said...

Oh, I dunno, Anony. I wouldn't put it past him to come up with another way to earn a medal or three.

(And teams don't just happen, you know.)

John H. D. Watson said...

I'm quite sure there are times when he deserves a medal just for putting up with me!

Anonymous said...

those aren't called medals John they are called valentines cards ;-)

Anony

REReader said...

John, now he's gonna say it's the other way round.

In fact, it's neither--more that you are each better than a medal to each other.

(Smile and say thank you. :))

Greg Lestrade said...

Anony - I didn't.

RR - I really wouldn't want them. Didn't want that one, either. Although I appreciate what it stands for. And teams sort of do happen. A big of nurture, but a lot of luck.

John, you're all the reward I could need in life :) well, you and the boys.

Small Hobbit said...

Just checked the poll result. Yep, "Bashful" was the winning name ;)

Anonymous said...

I can understand that someone like you who finds it hard when people tell you you're doing special things probably isn't the right person to be giving medals to, were you one of those kids who took stickers off your jumper at school so noone would ask why you got them? (I was I hated them!!)

John and the boys are wonderful for you and you are wonderful for them so who needs medals anyway ;-)

Hi all, just popping in to say a big thankyou to you all, I was early anon on 12th march about sexual assaults and I wanted to say a huge thankyou to all you lovely people who were so nice to me and for the great advice about telling people.

Having said it here I thought I should finally tell my other half so I followed the cuddled up, feeling relaxed, go on say it advice and told him. He was silent for a minute before he gave me a hug and said ‘I know it’s a stupid question but is there anything I can do’ I told him there was nothing other than trying not to let it affect anything which I knew wouldn’t be easy for him.

He’s done a great job though and it really hasn’t affected anything other than I don’t feel like I’m keeping secrets from him anymore.

So thank you all for everything (and sorry to bring this up in the middle of somethingelse but I really wanted to say thankyou)

Anon, that's one of the bravest things someone can do. Well done, you! And I'm pleased it went so well. Clearly you've got a keeper!

Greg Lestrade said...

That has honestly made my day - possibly my year - to hear that. Knowing anything we all talk about here has helped someone out is just...amazing.

I'm really glad that you felt you coukd talk to him, and that it resulted in good things. And I'm impressed by his reaction too. i've never been on that side of the equation in my personal life, but I imagine it must be really hard.

And really, thank you so much for coming and telling us. It's just great to think anyone's helped by these blogs.

John, just because...well, you should know, because when you come here people will probably allude to it, someone pulled a gun on Sal and I this morning. And we're fine, nothing happened, but...didn't want to not tell you. Well, I did, but...anyway, don't worry and....well, that's all really. Were fine.

Early anon - I'm very glad it went so well for you; that's wonderful.

Greg Lestrade said...

Stay away from it? I'm meeting Danger shortly!

John, would love to choose bikes. And just...sit in the park or something. I don't know.

Maybe get coffee with a large shot of something stronger in it.

John H. D. Watson said...

And a sandwich. Or some sort of food. I love you. What happened? If you can talk about it here.

Greg Lestrade said...

That gun that I wasn't expecting to find... wasn't expecting to find it today either. But it found me.

Boy we wanted to talk to seems to have been keeping it for someone, got scared when we turned up. So when his mum let us in he pulled it on us. Don't think he knew anything about the workings. Was more scared than we were I think.

John H. D. Watson said...

Oh dear. That's...not a good situation. I'm very grateful no one was hurt.

Kind of glad you found the gun but more glad you're both ok. The 'boy' deserved to be scared you two did not.

Enjoy the shopping hope you find the perfect bikes :-)

Anony

Greg Lestrade said...

Not great, no.

Don't worry, I refuse to be shot before your birthday, or before a holiday, so that's a double refusal. Plus at least 3 of your birthday surprises really need me to be fairly not-shot, even just a bit.

His mum did go from 'my little around would never do anything wrong' to 'oh my god put that down' very fast. She helped talk a bit of sense into him.

REReader said...

That was distinctly not reassuring, L. I'm VERY grateful the two of you are okay.

Park-sitting sounds good. Time with John sounds better.

Greg Lestrade said...

Wasnt meant to be reassuring, really.

Don't think there's a way of doing that in this situation. Although I was tempted just not to say anything. But someone else probably would have, and made me feel like crap for not telling John.

John H. D. Watson said...

Oh good. I do prefer you fairly not shot, especially before holidays.

Anonymous said...

You should be proud of yourself for telling John Greg you really should, it might not be easy but it was the right thing to do :-)

And can you please just refuse to get shot ever, don't put the time limits on it just make it ever!!

Anony

REReader said...

Yeah, didn't think reassuring was the goal. Honest is better, anyway--I'm sure John would much rather know, and I'm quite sure it does no harm for us to be reminded from time to time that police officers have a dangerous job, and we should be suitably grateful that you do it.

Sherlock said...

It's not fair I told Mrs T that someone tried to shoot Lestrade and she said she'd call John and I could go home early but then she read the blog and didn't let me and we could have gone out bike riding all afternoon.

REReader said...

Well, Sherlock, you knew Lestrade was okay, so it wasn't right to try to make Mrs T think maybe he wasn't. She probably felt pretty bad when she thought he wan't okay, which would make her upset when she found out you made her think it was worse than it was.

But if you apologize, she'd probably let you call him so you could hear he's okay for real.

Anonymous said...

Mrs T is a clever one, isn't she? But if Lestrade isn't getting off work Sherlock then you shouldn't really get off school. That wouldn't be fair. It was a close call and more than a little scary I'm sure, but in the end no harm actually done, so everyone keeps plugging along at what they're meant to be doing.

Greg Lestrade said...

Sorry I wasn't nearly shot quite enough for your escape plans, Sherlock. But we will all go riding soon. Promise.

Sherlock said...

I didn't try to make her think anything I just told her! And then she said I could go home and I didn't know she'd say that but then I wanted to.

John H. D. Watson said...

When you say something like that, you also need to let people know that it turned out all right, if it did. Otherwise they worry. You also need to apologize to her in the morning please.

REReader said...

I believe you, Sherlock. And it might make her feel better if you tell her that. Because she probably did feel bad.

And of course once she said you could go you'd want to, but Lesteade isn't getting off either.

REReader said...

And Sherlock, I'm sorry I jumped to the conclusion that you were trying to make Mrs T think something that wasn't so. I should have known better, and I apologize.

Sherlock said...

But I didn't know what happened then and all he said was that he was fine and no one ever believes that on here and so I thought maybe he wasn't fine and even though he mainly is sometimes he isn't so I didn't know!

Greg Lestrade said...

Hey, Sherlock, kiddo, calm down. It's fine. Just explain to Mrs T in the morning and say that you're sorry if she was worried.

And as I'm sure John has said, we just chose bikes today and he's picking them up tomorrow. So maybe tomorrow after school you can make sure he remembers how to ride in the park.

I'll be home in a bit.

Love you, John. Thanks for ... being you. It was good to get out of here for a bit and see you.

REReader said...

Okay, Sherlock? Lestrade is quite right--Mrs T knows you and cares about you, and she will understand when you tell her you're sorry you worried her and explain that you didn't mean to. (And you'll feel good about it too. :) )

Sherlock said...

Mrs T knows John's surprise because I said Lestrade had to be okay because we were going on holiday and she said it sounded like a lot of fun and that means she knows! That's not fair.

Anonymous said...

You're right Sherlock we never believe Lestrade when he says he's fine so I can see that you would question him too, maybe we should all try and believe him more so as not to cause you extra worry.

I'm sure Mrs T knows only what she needs to to ensure you're out of school when you need to be, surprises are fun and guessing is almost as good as finding out :-)

I am 100% sure you will have a lovely weekend away and the excitement of looking forward to it will only add to your enjoyment.

Greg Lestrade said...

Anony is right, Shortstuff, Mrs T only knows because you're getting out if school a day early, and to prepare her for your excitable return after the holidays.

And remember, Sherlock--Mrs T might know where you're going, but she doesn't get to go along!

(Besides, althought it's frustrating not to know, it's also fun and exciting for it to be a surprise. And you know that it will be great, because Lestrade knows what you like, and he knows you will like this, he said so!)

REReader said...

maybe we should all try and believe him more so as not to cause you extra worry.

Good point, Anony. Very good point.

Greg Lestrade said...

Sherlock, if you get people to believe me, or at least act like they do, you'll have achieved at 6 what I've failed to at 46. Good on you.

Anonymous said...

I think you will find I believe you when you are telling the truth Greg. I only ever don't believe you when it is quite obvious that I shouldn't. I believed you today when you said you were fine, not that it didn't amaze me that you could be but I believed you :-)

It is understandable that Sherlock will worry more about you because we give the impression we don't believe you so it's important we only do it when we need to :-)

Dropping by to say I'm glad everyone is ok, L. Hope you had a nice time bike shopping.

Gotta dash, out in the field today, not much battery left!

Piplover said...

L, I believe when you say you're fine when it pertains to physical matters. You know your body better than anyone and what it can and can't handle.

It's the emotional "fine" I think we doubt, because we know that it's all too easy to say "fine" when it fact you mean, "I've had a crap time and need a hug."

I'm glad you and Sally are all right.

Greg Lestrade said...

Piplover - you may be spot on with the emotional part, except 'fine', when it doesn't mean 'fine', usually means 'crap but either don't want to talk about it or don't think there's anything you can do'. So...yeah, I'll keep abusing the word 'fine' and you can all keep guessing what I really mean. :)

And thanks. I'm rather glad too.

REReader said...

I'm thinking that it really doesn't matter what my reasons for treating "fine" with varying degree of skepticism, I should try to stop, since it's clearly sending the wrong message. I'll work on it. And my apologies, Sherlock. (Apologies to you, too, L.)

*waiting to hear John's reaction*

Greg Lestrade said...

You didn't hear his reaction earlier? It was a pretty high pitched squeal of joy. I thought it would travel.

He had a hard time choosing the colour, but finally decided on that one. And Spider can go on the back! Brilliant.

Anonymous said...

I know it'll be just the right height but could you not find one in a better colour ;-)

Anony

Greg Lestrade said...

he chose that colour! There was one that was more pink, but it looked to be aimed at someone a little younger. He likes the lilac.

Just picturing him and Sherlock tearing around the park tomorrow afternoon is making me smile. I might borrow one of the CCTV vans from the yard and film them.

REReader said...

You didn't hear his reaction earlier?

Odd, really, I'd've expected to hear something, for sure, but no....

Anonymous said...

He's not really a pink man is he and you can't really go wrong with lilac!

Oh to have CCTV cameras at your control you could make a whole episode of you've been framed, I'm sure they'd both love you for that ;-)

Anony

Greg Lestrade said...

There are bits of him which can be very pink...

Anonymous said...

Again, I believe you ;-)

Not sure he's going to be a fan or this conversation, you better watch yourself or you'll be in danger ;-)

Mazarin said...

I'm pretty sure Lestrade doesn't mind if he's "in Danger" at all, honestly.

John H. D. Watson said...

I can't see that on my phone but i have no doubt it's highly questionable.

REReader said...

Can you see it better under this link, John?

Greg Lestrade said...

At the risk of sounding like an idiot...that's the same link, RR.

Or am I missing some computer-related subtlety there? I don't know much about this stuff.

REReader said...

It was supposed to go to my photobucket account. Try this link here--better?

one's a click and ones a copy and paste Greg I think thats the difference anyway but technically inept is my middle name so who knows ;-)

Early Anon - that#'s so wonderful :-)

Lestrade - Very glad to hear you and Sally are OK. Have answered your poll. I think if John has to wait to have his presents drip-fed to him a day at a time, you should certainly give him one on Thursday morning...

Sherlock - impeccable logic. I hope you all had some hugs when Lestrade got home from work.
