I have so much work to do I keep acting like a crap computer -freezing and shutting down, before restarting.
I have to get my desk cleared before we go away for the long weekend, because if I don't, well, I don't feel like I'll get caught up again before Christmas. And I can't believe Christmas already feels quite soon.
Mycroft and I just went for a ride - which was brilliant. He's a very good pillion. We did a mix of roads and different levels of traffic. He still maintains there should be some sort of test to ensure idiots aren't allowed on the roads.
So because he told me I had to, here are a couple of pictures of my bike.
My view of it (well, from standing next to it.)
There you go.
Tomorrow we're off to Nicky's for the weekend, and the boys and John will get to meet my Mum.

Christmas is terrifyingly soon, although not as terrifyingly soon as school starting up again is.
I'm glad you and Mycroft had a nice ride.
Yeah, no idea where the summer holiday has gone.
Are we taking Sherlock out of school on only his second day back, to drop Mycroft off? Or will he just be horrific about it all...
He will probably be horrific, but I think we're doing it anyway. Mycroft said he wanted him there.
Right, yeah.
I can always take him off somewhere to distract him if Mycroft and you and their Mum (and everyone else present) want some peace. It will be odd for both of them - being apart.
Yeah. I'm not so worried about that day, but afterward... Mycroft's always been there, even when they were fighting. It's going to be difficult.
Well, we'll just have to do our best. It won't be easy for either of them. Sherlock will just be more vocal about it. And have less to distract him.
I really will try to just work my hours, and not do much overtime, to give you as much help as I can.
Another reason I want to clear this work now.
Thanks. I suspect I'll need the help.
What time do you want to leave tomorrow?
We'll be okay. We have to be, right?
Dunno. No later than ten. It'll be a decent two hours drive, traffic might be bad, with the bank holiday.
Ten's not bad. We should all be up and functioning by then.
I'm going to run everything I need to over to the yard on the bike early, then get back, help you load the car, and go. okaY?
Can I show my ignorance - it's a Triumph what?
Triumph Street Triple
:)
Yeah, that'll be good. Are you mostly packed already?
And I meant to ask sooner... Do you want to take Mycroft down on the bike while I drive with Sherlock? I know you missed it while we were gone.
Wow, you guys have been busy! I hope you get to enjoy the weekend!
Nice bike, very sexy.
the boys and John will get to meet my Mum
Is it my imagination or is there a whole lot left unsaid there?
Hope you lots all have a lovely weekend together :-)
not at all packed in any way.
I did miss it, but...it's only a few days. And it seems silly, taking both. Besides, I'd miss you more.
(And I may just fall asleep on the way there, the way this is going.)
Nameless - maybe. We'll see. Maybe it'll be fine.
We'll have a good time with Nicky and the kids, anyway.
It will be fine, I'm sure. Barring Sherlock related disasters.
Yeah. I'm sure Sherlock will be fine. There's a lot of fields for him and the dogs to run off their energy.
And welly wanging, I hope.
Yeah, there could be.
You want to go to bed? I'll join you when I'm finished. Don't want you too tired for tomorrow.
Speaking of welly wanging, John, I'm sure I can speak for us all when I say we want a full report on any delicious/amusing shifts in Lestrade's accent while you're away (it happens to me when I go home). Or if Sherlock picks up a new accent -- kids can be such sponges on that front. :)
Have fun! Hope all goes well with L's mum.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who read that as "willy wangling".
X - count on it. :) And thanks!
L - but that would involve moving and you're comfy...
Not sure Mrs Holmes would forgive me if her youngest came back sounding like a Wurzel.
Although going home means I can refer to John as 'My lover', and no one will bat an eyelid. Well 'Me luvver', anyway.
Danger, all right, I won't chase you up to bed and tuck you in, like I do Sherlock. Just don't want you to be too tired.
going to fall asleep in a minute anyway i think, just poke me when you're done.
Lestrade - well, I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that you're not actually obliged to put yourself, John or especially the boys in a situation that makes you uncomfortable. But hopefully it'll all go fine; and if it doesn't, it's just a couple of hours out of your life and then it's done and over with and you can back to a lovely long weekend with Nicky and her family :-)
Well 'Me luvver', anyway.
Ooh, I'm getting all nostalgic now.
At the very least I hope you and John manage to get some sleep tonight; sounds like you're going to spend half the night doing paperwork
Rider - really not just you...
right. don't blame me if you wake up with a cricked neck.
X - actually, just thinking about home is making me think in a bloody accent. Which doesn't bode well. Still, this bunch of grockles will probably just about manage to drag me back from the full Westcountry accent.
Nameless - got to do it sometime. May as well be now. Like you say, it's only for a bit. And better that Nicky's there, too.
And I am. John is already half asleep on me, though, so hopefully he'll get enough rest. I rather suspect Mycroft is still awake in his room, playing with his new laptop, though
Just wanted to say good luck, and I hope you won't need it.
Cheers, Harry. Long time no see, how're you keeping?
I know nothing about motorcycles, but that is a beautiful machine.
L, I know you've got plenty on your mind, but I read this today and wanted to give you a heads-up, since I know you're planning a trip to New York in the nearish future.
Mycroft, was today's ride a test run to see if L whisking you away from a school was really a viable option? You're such a clever boy.
I hope you all have a lovely time!
Innie - cheers. If we did come over there on holiday I wouldn't bring a guitar anyway. I definitely don't have any paperwork for mine. And no idea if any parts are made out of anything restricted. Thanks for the link.
Well enough. You know, can't complain. Not as well as you two are doing, clearly. Congratulations, meant to say that before. Sounds odd now I say it... Anyway, I'm glad you're both getting on so well.
Thanks. You know you're welcome to drop in any time, don't you? Just give John a ring to check he's somewhere in the vicinity.
Yeah, sure.
So when's Johnny taking you to see mum and dad?
Want me to wake him up and ask him? He currently snoring gently on me.
I don't know. Depends if he wants the boys to come too - in which case it will have to wait until Mycroft's off school.
See how we survive him meeting one of mine before I meet both of yours, eh?
Yeah, fair enough.
I'm definitely inviting myself along for that one.
It'll be good enough to sell tickets to, will it?
Well we won't do it until John feels comfortable with the idea. And if that isn't for a few years then that's fine by me.
Right, time for bed. Well, to get him to bed and finish reading these files sitting in bed, I reckon. Before we both end up asleep on the sofa for the night.
It'll be good enough to sell tickets to, will it?
Christ, I hope so. Any way it plays out will be better than the usual.
Night.
Oddly enough, you're not making it sound like something I want to subject John to. Maybe we'll put the whole idea off indefinitely.
Sorry. That was tactless. Or...something. Something I should apologise for. Anyway. Yeah. Glad he has you to look after him. I do love him.
I know. And maybe it was fair warning. Anyway, up to John, not me.
Right.
Sherlock, don't even think about waking anyone else up until it's light in the morning.
Danger, you might be doing all the driving. I reckon I've got 4 hours to try and sleep before being woken up.
Oh, well that explains the earlier references to the "Striple," which rather confused me. Good luck with the family visit. It can be a challenge, I know, but you've got each other for back-up. I hope the boys have fun visiting their nearly-cousins.
Sorry, that's just me being lazy. There's a Street Triple model and a Speed Triple. Street Triple for me - excellent in the city traffic, with plenty of grunt for riding out on. Well, it gets the thumbs up from me, Danger and Mycroft, anyway! Probably the best bike I've ever had.
Sorry about Harry last night.
You've nothing to be sorry about. Certain siblings if mine would take equal pleasure in witnessing us tomorrow.
Are you worried?
Sort of.
Whether about her, me, you or the boys I'm not sure.
Lestrade, why is there no option for "only when being chased by something with large teeth and it's your only means of escape" on your poll?
Anon - it wouldn't fit. But clearly there should have been the option for 'swimming is best....avoided'. I shall try harder with the next poll.
