Two fools in love, So beautiful and strong

Last night I got called back into work at...well, let's just say John and I were celebrating his newly errr...doubly-employed-status. And the timing could barely have been worse. But sadly I can't ignore the phone on night like that.

So...John waited up for me, which was very very sweet of him. Or desperate ;) but I'm going with sweet...

This morning, I fully expected him to want to crawl right back into bed after we dropped Sherlock off at school. But no, my amazing boyfriend had other ideas... And he took me to the Chelsea Flower Show! It was amazing. Busy, but, just...fantastic. And we stayed all day. Got caught in a torrential hailstorm which had everyone running for cover, but it was sort of romantic, sheltering in the most beautiful surroundings, with John...

And then, once we had fetched Sherlock again, we went and test rode some bikes. Well, I test rode them. Sherlock did...John sat on it. We would have had him test ride too, but that would have meant leaving Sherlock alone, in a bike shop. It didn't seem wise.

Anyway, I think I've made my decision (John thinks I made it a long time ago)...but Mycroft has to try it yet. So far only John and Sherlock have been on the back. Need a full grown adult to try it out too ;)

And, as my boots got fairly scuffed up, and now I ride mainly in town, it's nice to have boots that, when sticking out the bottom of your jeans, look vaguely 'normal' (and stop people thinking I'm a courier)...I bought these. They're really comfy. Very nice. I'm a little bit in love :)

So...tomorrow I'm working, Saturday I'm working, and we get Mycroft back...Sunday we're going!... to the land of...

I can see from that picture that Sherlock will be bouncing off walls the entire time you're away ;-)

Those are nice boots and I'm glad you're nearly set on a new bike, the four of you will be back on the road in no time :-D

I'm hoping he quite enjoys siesta, once he realises it's the key to staying up until midnight every night...

Our rooms are sort of...well, we've got two rooms, but they're on a little corridor on their own, and we can lock the door to the corridor. So then we can leave our own room doors open, so he can come and go. Otherwise poor Mycroft won't get any peace.

And yeah, want a bike back before the summer comes!

Those rooms sound ideal. As does the ice cream.

Plenty of time to get a bike L, given the current weather.

Sounds like a wonderful day. You two really are great together :-)

I love the boots. I don't blame you for being a bit in love.

The boots look wonderful. And genuinely comfortable, too!

Is Sherlock going to try every single flavor of ice cream, do you think? Or does he have preferences?

Greg Lestrade said...

All of them. Twice. He thinks he'll make it if he has three flavours at a time, and multiple visits per day...

He mainly wants to try ones we don't really get here. Like my favourite, Zuppa Inglese.

I might be a bit jealous of your boots.

Greg Lestrade said...

I know you're jealous of my (possible) bike, and my boots...but you could have both those things, if you really wanted.

There's one thing that I have that many people are jealous of that you can never have, though.

Zuppa Inglese... English Soup? Or is it English Soap? What does it taste like? Or is that a secret until Sherlock tries it?

I shall cheer Sherlock on his Ice Cream Quest from here. It will be a noble effort.

*resists the urge to ask John if the boots don't come in his size*

Your silver fox good looks?

Greg Lestrade said...

RSF - that's a literal translation. But it's a sort of trifle flavour...booze, sponge, custard...it's delicious.

Danger - my amazing boyfriend. You can't have him :) (You're becoming more and more of a silver fox. It's obviously catching!)

John H. D. Watson said...

L - that's all right, mine's better.

Greg Lestrade said...

Nah, he isn't. But he will have a better bike ;)

John H. D. Watson said...

Better boots maybe.

Greg Lestrade said...

Your boots are lovely too. And suit you perfectly.

Seriously, thank you for taking me to the flower show. It was really thoughtful and kind of you. You still just....blow my mind, the way you think of things like that.

Greg Lestrade said...

Bed? My rat, Valentino, is telepathically telling me to bring you to his lair...I mean, our bed.

John H. D. Watson said...

I do actually like mine better still (and of course my bike).

I like making you happy. You do the same for me, you know.

John H. D. Watson said...

Bed. I will brave your lair.

Greg Lestrade said...

It's Valentino's lair... I'm just his minion. He controls me with the power of his mind.

And good. Perfect, in fact.

There's a staircase where we're goin in Italy, built for horses. A huge one, spiral. I used to run up and down it as a kid. I'm going to challenge Sherlock on how many times he can go up and down it. It's a cunning plan to get a siesta. :)

John H. D. Watson said...

Mm, siestas...

Greg Lestrade said...

I shall need one tomorrow. look at the time!!

John H. D. Watson said...

Definitely time for sleep, yeah.

I was stuck on the boots. I do love me some boots. Even the gelato (so much better than ice cream) couldn't distract me from the boots.

But the spiral staircase for horses...that distracted me from the boots. Momentarily.

REReader said...

Me, I'm stuck on the gelato. That's a LOT of flavors!

Piplover said...

You two are so romantic!

I love the boots, but I admit, the gelato is what has me jealous!

Nice boots! Sounds like you had a great day :)

That picture of the gelati shop looks like something from my neck of the woods! I live in a heavily Italian area of Melbourne, and there is gelati galore. (It's also heavily Greek & Lebanese, so there's also lots of shisha cafes and baklava!) I'm going to have to check out my local sellers and see if anyone has Zuppa Inglese! God, trifle ice cream sounds DIVINE... and I've just realised it wouldn't be gluten free. Well. I'll just have to try making some in my ice cream maker! :D

Greg Lestrade said...

Kestrel - I shall wear the boots while pretending to be riding a horse and galloping up and down the staircase, with an ice cream in me hand...deal? ;)

Kestrel337 said...

So many ways I could respond to that...

(no, that's disrespectful to...everyone)
(no, that's really not very mature)
(that wouldn't be prudent)

Yeah, the best way (prudent, respectful, adult) seems to be suggesting you offer that deal to John. ;-)

But seriously, have fun!

Rider said...

Prudent and respectful? That means wondering if the horse tail is involved is right out?

Greg Lestrade said...

Rider -it's John's tail, and entirely up to him if he'll be wearing it or not. Sadly we don't have a riding crop, if he starts lagging...
