Finito

Well, that's it...all finished. Off back to Blighty today.

I've had a completely amazing time, here with John and the boys. i've loved every minute of it. I'm very glad I've had the opportunity to share this place with them.

Now got to try and remember not to translate everything.

And then Mycroft's off to school, I'm back to work, John has a laundry mountain to sort out and Sherlock probably has some very big grown up chicks to look at!

The fireflies in the countryside last night were pretty much the perfect end to the holiday. Just the four of us, in the middle of nowhere, and one of nature's greatest shows laid on for us.

Edited to say - Now I'm back, have a picture:

One of the streets. Bit hilly, the city. You should see people driving and parking in the garages on these steep streets - it's amazing! Made me wish we had the bikes with us :)

Safe trip guys :-)

Thank you for taking the time out to share bits of it with us. :-)

Delighted you've all had such a great holiday.

Wishing you a smooth journey home.

It sounds like the fireflies were a beautiful cap to a very special holiday!

Sherlock might have pond life to check out, in addition to the much bigger chicks...and John has a new job to start! Travel safe, and I hope you all have a smooth transition back to routine.

Yeah, it's all go for us now.

Just waiting for our flight.

I'm afraid you might be in for more photos for the next little while! But you shouldn't be jealous - just come here yourselves!

We caught a great free concert in one of the courtyards in the city yesterday. Really good music. All woodwind and brass with a tiny bit of percussion, listened to in the blazing sun eating ice cream :)

I'm not jealous I'm just nosy so I'll look forward to the pictures ;-)

Good luck with getting everyone back to reality :-)

Reality is missing Mycroft and Sherlock not wanting to go to bed!

Can't quite believe we're home. Definitely can't believe it's work in the morning.

Certainly can't beleive I'm lucky enough to have John to share all these new memories with.

Mycroft won't have many weeks of school left now will he? This year had flown by!!

Good luck with Sherlock and with getting up for work :-)

I am so very glad that you've enjoyed your trip and that you have such wonderful memories that connect you all to a place that is so special to you Greg :-)

It's very thoughtful of Sherlock to help you all feel solidly at home again, instead of going through that awkward "where am I really" post-holiday stage. ;D

OOooh, more pictures? That would be great. I've been saving for a trip to Europe, and I keep adding places I want to see, but some of them mean more -- I think Italy would, now, just because I'd be looking for zuppa Inglese gelato and fireflies.

(p.s. how many flavors of ice cream did Sherlock manage to try?)

Sending you all good wishes for the start of the week: Mycroft for what ever exams you have; Sherlock for lots of interesting things to do back at school, and I'm sure you'll have lots of things to tell your classmates about your holiday; J all the best for the new job and L that you don't disappear under all the stuff that everyone's very kindly kept for you.

And to the rest of you - have a great week, hoping things go just as you would like.

The paperwork is higher than some of the mountains out in Italy. Not quite snow capped though. Or beautiful.

Its good to know you were missed though isn't it Greg ;-)

Good luck with it all.

I hope you have a productive day John :-)

Greg Lestrade said...

I'll keep telling myself that, AnonyBob!

Hope you're having a good day, John. Not dreaming too much of sitting in the sun with coffee and ice cream.

Suppose it depends on how much is too much...

I hope you're not too buried.

Greg Lestrade said...

Too much is when I get home to find Sherlock still at school and you sitting, eyes glazed, trying to signal to non existant waiters...

I'm not too buried. Yet. It's still a teetering stack, waiting to collapse all over me.

Nor am I too furry, which is how I originally read that question...

John H. D. Watson said...

Not quite that much... yet...

Glad to hear you are neither buried nor furry.

I might have to bring things home. Been out half the day on a case. Want me to do risotto?

REReader said...

It sounds like you're all back to normal at work, L.

Were you totally buried in laundry, John? And have you heard from your new job today?

How was school, Sherlock? Are the chicks much bigger? Are there any tadpoles in the pond?

Sherlock said...

Yes they're big with feathers now.

Pleeeaaase can we have risotto and then cake and ice cream?

REReader said...

Aha, maybe *ahem* people will find them easier to tell apart with feathers!
