Right. Calliope, your turn.
What is your dream holiday destination. (possibly paraphrased - I only just looked at it and have already forgotten).
This is a hard question! I'm assuming money and time is no problem, so...
At first I thought of a lovely tropical island. I do like the sun, I love swimming in the sea, and would love to go somewhere where the water was crystal clear and there were reefs and fish and wildlife to look at.
But I also love snow when it's proper big fluffy snow you can have fun in, rather than try to battle to work through. So somewhere cold and beautiful would be good too...or somewhere really insanely desolate. I'd love to go to the arctic or antarctic. Not to trek anywhere too extreme, but just to see the place - maybe stand on top of the world.
I haven't really been to many places in the world. Europe a bit, Italy a lot, and odd other places but it would be nice to go places with someone, and I imagine visiting new places with the boys would be quite amazing, because the way they see the world is so different anyway.
Reading through those I've realised that my dream holiday essentially is beautiful desolation. I'd like the people I love to be there, and no one else. Ha. Cant imagine anything worse than somewhere crowded with people - especially other tourists. Obviously locals would be allowed to stay...

A private yacht, that's what you want...
I went on a cruise last spring (brilliant idea from my mother to have the extended family get together in a location where we were not obliged to spend more than meals together) and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
I spent most of my time on my cabin's balcony, without people. Plus one time the ship docked at an island owned by the cruise company, so there was no one on it and we could just lie on the sand and not do anything.
Beautiful desolation sounds wonderful. Excellent choice. I'm hoping to find some of that In the Sierras at some point.
Thanks!
beautiful desolation
Fantastic.
Having grown up in a seaside resort, I have a natural aversion to tourists (grockles, as we called them), even when I am one.
Sounds gorgeous and perfect. <3
Antarctica would be amazing.
Feel free to ask new questions too, everyone. I know there are lots, but I need to ne in the right frame of mind for some of them.
How about who your biking heroes are and why?
Think the dogs could be trained to pull sleds, Danger?
If you had a year off to do anything you like, what would it be? (Study something? Rest and recreate? Climb Everest?)
Ha! I bet Mycroft could organize an Arctic expedition just fine. Even from school.
(Or Antarctic expedition.)
If you were to make a mix tape for John, what would be on it? For Mycroft or Sherlock? Your blog?
Think the dogs could be trained to pull sleds, Danger?
Absolutely. One per sled.
So that's the boys gear sorted...what about you and me? I wouldn't mind a snowmobile.
Have you ever been on one?
Nope.
And right now my dream is to go to bed and even try a lie-in in the morning...
Mmm. Bed.
Sweet dreams, guys!
Cruises are awesome. I thought I'd be all crowded in with everyone, but there are so many opportunities to be by yourself. You could always come over this way and take a cruise up to Alaska and see the northern lights and all the other stuff.
As for questions...
I do have a nosey kind of naughty question in mind, but I'm waiting until someone who is not me starts the landslide :D (Sorry Sally!)
Do you plan on going to Pride with John and the boys again? (Have you put in for leave yet?)
If you could go back in time to give yourself advice, when would you go back to and what advice would you give?
What historical person would you love to go to dinner with? Why?
Would you ever let Sally make an actual guest post, as opposed to her popping on when you've forgotten to log off?
Has work settled down on the 'he's dating a guy' thing?
Um, I'm sure I can come up with more later :D
You could go to Punta Arenas, in Chile. A friend of mine says it's "el culo del mundo" (the world's ass... XD HAHAHA not a nice way of calling it, I suppose). And there's a lighthouse at the end of the world in Argentina... I've always wanted to go there.
Lighthouse at the end of the world sounds very cool, Lupe. I'm definately adding it to my list. :)
I have a question - do you guys have any plans for Guy Fawkes? I imagine it would be right up a certain young man's street!
I'm planning to watch the city's public fireworks display and maybe wave a few sparklers. :)
Oh! I forgot to mention that when I was at the National Automobile Museum last weekend (Reno, NV) I saw a 1941 Indian Motorcycle (with sidecar) and thought of you and John, L. (and also Rider)

Pooh, good question, Amy. Especially since it's on a weekend this year!
...predictive text strikes again. :/
Bonfire night is my favourite celebration. But as i'm working, I don't know what John and Sherlock will do.
Did you manage to sleep in, then?
I got up with Sherlock just before six. We're just dropping him at school (and I'm checking the pond) then I have every intention of returning to bed with Danger.
So....Danger awaits you in bed? It's like fortune cookie!
Have a lovely day and an easy night. :)
I'm sure that training the dogs to pull sleds won't be a problem.
Training them to stop, however...
Lupe,
Is the lighthouse in Ushuaia, because if it is I've been to the end of the world and it's gorgeous, one of my favorite trips along with a cruise to Alaska. I don't kown what that says about me but those were my favorites trips ever! :)
