When we kiss, Fire...

Awake. Just about. Coffee. Sherlock telling me about fireworks so fast it's all just one long word. John making me toast.

Nicky sent me this, to make up for me not going to see a beacon being lit. It's the one they went to.

Sherlock wants to play music on top of Buck house. I actually believe he might one day, too :)

Last night was fine, I mean, not great, too many people, terrible crime scene, in terms of evidence being messed up, too many people. Someone had been stabbed, lots of people walking past until they realised he wasn't just a drunk, he was in trouble. So not good from our point of view.

He's alive right now...but it's not looking good. too much blood loss. So it's going to be a difficult one. Don't want to think about it right now.

Mycroft said he really enjoyed last night. I get the impression they were somewhere with a very good view, and he thoroughly enjoyed the whole show. He told me off earlier for calling her Lizzy. Or Her Maj. Sorry, Ma'am. Boss.

Just caught Sherlock with another ninja bread man. I swear that boy has hollow legs. Or worms. Or a tardis for a stomach. He says it's my fault for making them so nice. Flattery, gets you everywhere.

Going to try and flatter John into making me more coffee...

I'm glad last night was relatively quiet, one bad crime scene aside. With that many people around, I'm sure it could have been much worse; but then I suppose crowds celebrating the Queen's jubilee is likely to be less of a problem than crowds celebrating something like winning the FA Cup.

Can't see any problem with "Her Maj", personally.

Great photo Nicky, did you have a good evening?

Anonymous said...

I think I'd have rather been at Nicky's beacon than the Queen's, myself. I'll be hunting pictures for more of them today, though. (What can I say? I think fire is neat!)

I'm surprised any of the ninjas lasted till today. I'll be far more surprised if any last till tomorrow.

Caffeine is good. Well, usually. Aren't you going to try to sleep today?

The jubilee has been all over the telly here, and I think it's great. While I think Australia should be a republic, I think Britain should retain the monarchy. I also have a lot of admiration for the Queen. It's been great seeing all the British people out having a good time, when things have been so not good in the world lately. And so many people! I was looking at them all on telly and grinning like a fool, I was happy that they were happy :D Wasn't that long ago you had the riots, it's nice to see so many partying Poms instead!

Also, I am seriously impressed with the idea of Ninja bread men. I'm going to steal it and make some myself, soon.

RSF - I was asleep from about half eight until when I wrote this. John normally mskes we nap again in the afternoon :)

John H. D. Watson said...

I don't make you, I just...encourage you.

Greg Lestrade said...

Having read my comment again I think I should try wearing my glasses when typing.

You're very encouragine

John H. D. Watson said...

You can blame it on the lack of sleep.

Greg Lestrade said...

Mmm. I'm fine. Wide awawke

What time's Red's funeral tomorrow? And are the boys having their day out tomorrow, or is that another day?

John H. D. Watson said...

The funeral is in the morning, eleven, and the boys are going out in the afternoon, so they can call if anything goes wrong. Not that it will.

Greg Lestrade said...

Right.

Now have an image of the phonecall. "Sherlock's climbed the diplodocus and won't come down"...

John - Encouraging L to get to bed sounds like a very good plan. ;)

L -Glasses don't do any good when they aren't on your nose, I'm told, but I still take mine off to read. OR type. (I'm nearsighted, and have graduated to bifocals now. But I can manage without them for most things.)

Ro, I like looking at the pictures of the Jubilee too. There's something about a really big party that makes me smile.

Mycroft, are you and Sherlock going to have lunch and things on your expedition? It's not a date when you're with a sibling, but my sister and I always try to find some kind of food we don't normally eat on the rare occasions when it's just the two of us. Last time it was fondue.

Sherlock, no climbing the dinosaur bones! They're a nuisance to sort out again.

John H. D. Watson said...

L - you know it's a real possibility...

REReader said...

RSF--Do I spy another Bringing Up Baby fan?

Greg Lestrade said...

I know. Or riding the Blue Whale.

Think I need lunch. Or something.

John H. D. Watson said...

I can make something if you like?

Greg Lestrade said...

Sorry, think I might have dozed off...

I was going to make bread. But instead I've been useless. Sorry.

Yes, lunch, great. Any olives survived the great plague of Sherlocusts?

John H. D. Watson said...

You're not useless, you're just tired.

I think there might be a very few left.

RR - Do you mean the old movie? Alas, no, I may have seen it as a child, but I don't remember it. I might have had a not quite so ancient movie called "One of Our Dinosaurs is Missing" at the back of my head, though. Or Danny and the Dinosaur. I am a children's librarian after all.

Mmm. Lunch. Or in my case, breakfast. I hate shifting schedules, for the most part, but I do like being able to eat lunch for breakfast.

Greg Lestrade said...

Feel more knackered than usual. Must be the boys sucking the adult life force out of me again :)

REReader said...

RSF--I did mean the old movie, because of its last 2 minutes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B16rhVK5Av0. :)

L--And also you had a rather exhausting night, what with one thing and another. Maybe a nap is a good notion after all? (John does have good notions... :))

Greg Lestrade said...

Am going to go back to bed. Which means I've had a busy day of sleeping in bed, on the sofa, then back in bed.

John H. D. Watson said...

Wouldn't mind joining you for a while...

REReader said...

Sounds like a nice day, actually... :)

Greg Lestrade said...

We could stitch Mrs Hudson up, tell Sherlock she wanted to bake with him...

John H. D. Watson said...

Maybe she does want to bake with him. She might...

Greg Lestrade said...

Excellent point.

Greg Lestrade said...

There is literally nothing better than dozing off with a warm doctor in your arms on a cold rainy day.

Piplover said...

I'm very jealous, Lestrade. I have to go to work soon for 12 hours on a cold and rainy day, and I would much rather be dozing in bed with a doctor in my arms. Or, seeing as I am single at the moment, my two cats curled up next to me. ;-)

John H. D. Watson said...

Warm policemen are very nice as well. I recommend them.

Desert Wanderer said...

Both of those options sound lovely. Hope today goes well for you, Lestrade.

Anonymous said...

They do sound lovely, don't they? But I think I'd settle for a warm Spider right now. It's only 53F (12C) here and it doesn't feel like June at all. (And it's cloudy, so my astronomical leanings will have to be solaced by the internet this evening.)

RR, I'm not sure it would be a good idea or a bad idea to show that clip to Sherlock, but I'm definitely going to have to watch the movie now.

REReader said...

Oh, Sherlock isn't going to intentionally do anything that would either get him banned from the Natural History Museum or that would make Mycroft not want to take him places in the future, I'm sure!

(And it's a romantic/screwball comedy movie--not quite his thing, after all. But it's wonderful, for those who do like that sort of thing. :))

Greg Lestrade said...

Pip - don't be jealous. I'm now getting up again for a 12 hour shift too. Well, once I've showered and woken up slightly.

John H. D. Watson said...

Anyone watching the Federer - del Potro match?

Greg Lestrade said...

I dunno, the second your warm copper (one of them) is out of your bed you're straight in there with the Federicorn...

Becca said...

I'm watching it, though at the moment I'm watching the Djokovic-Tsonga match, where Tsonga just had 3 match points.

John H. D. Watson said...

L - the other one isn't warm. And Federer won!

Becca - has Tsonga won as well? Haven't checked yet

Becca said...

They're in a tiebreak. The French crowd is going nuts.

Greg Lestrade said...

Right, now Danger has made me late again, by being far too kissable, I must run.

Desert Wanderer said...

You can have some of my awakeness if you need it, Lestrade. Or, you know, all of it...

British Commonwealth type people, can you help me out, please? Just saw a British flag but without the diagonal red stripes. I can't find it on the internet. Anyone know which flag it is?

Anon Without A Name said...

Snuggling with you honey(badger) on a cold wet day sounds perfect.

Lestrade - hope you get to work on time, and have a quiet shift.

DW - according to this site: http://www.foursquaregb.org/union_flag.html,it's the original union flag dating from 1606 to 1801, the diagonal red stripes coming from Ireland. Might be worth checking the accuracy of that though.

Anonymous said...

It's the flag of Great Britain, rather than the flag of the United Kingdom. The red diagonal is the flag of St Patrick.

Lancs. Anon

Desert Wanderer said...

Ah! Brilliant, thanks, guys!

Did you make it on time, Lestrade?

pandabob said...

I hope work treats you well tonight Greg, this really is a week when I feel amazed by you and your ability to fit everything together :-)

You all sound like you've had a fun day, I hope the evening is as much fun for the three of you John :-)

Anonymous said...

Danger -- I saw most of the Federer - Del Potro match. Those first two sets! I was worried. But he turned it around in the end. And Djokovic won too, but I'm less excited about that.

Ryo
(who, before you ask, has NOT posted here before, but was hoping someone else had been watching the French Open)

Greg Lestrade said...

You all got there before me on the flag. And I was so excited I knew!

Was here on time. And then about half an hour ago my attempted murder investigation turned into a murder one.

Anonymous said...

Sorry to hear that L, hope you get a result.

pandabob said...

now that's a bad start to the night :-(

I hope you can find something useful to sorting it out, tis very sad when people die and somehow it feels worse when they weren't dead straight away :-(

Greg Lestrade said...

From the preliminary report he was never going to recover. Family saw him today, life support now off.

I'm just off to talk to them.

pandabob said...

The family getting to see him is the advantage I suppose, gives them a chance to say goodbye at least.

Good luck with it (doesn't sound right but I hope you know what I mean)

Anonymous said...

:(

I'm sorry. I hope his family knows something which will help you find the person who stabbed him.

REReader said...

Got my fingers crossed for you, L. I hope there's a big break in this one fast.
