Happy Birthday, Ma'am

We're watching the Trooping of the Colour. Mycroft really likes all this sort of thing, and knows a lot about the traditions and stuff. Obviously John knows quite a lot about the different parts of it - different marches, kits, uniforms, etc. Although, to Sherlock's disappointment, John wasn't a guardsman, so didn't have a Bearskin hat and never trooped the colour himself.

Closest I've ever been is as a PC, working on the route. It is a pretty amazing spectacle, I've got to admit. Here (if I've done this right) is a bit of YouTube from last year.

As for everything else going on right now...well, yeah. I don't know. I don't know what to do or not do. I don't know how to talk about it, but I feel like not talking about it might make it worse.

Anyone know a mind-reader? I think John might need one for me.

You could probably use one for me as well. Maybe it'll be easier after this thing at work is wrapped up?

I hope so. And I'm scared it won't be.

Then we'll figure something out.

Yeah, we will. I do believe that. I'm not...

It's just like you said. I don't mean to be like this either.

I know, love. It's all right.

This... acceptance of who each other is... is what is going to do the most to ge you through what rocky times there are or will be.

It's not all right, it's really not. And right now I don't know what to do about it.

But I do believe it will be. And thank you, for sticking it out and putting up with me.

Roll on the summer. Never has the prospect of getting out of London and spending a week or so in a tent in the coutryside with two boys, two dogs and you sounded so good.
