Only the very best hallucinations

I'm not sure if it's too much caffeine and too little sleep causing me to hallucinate, or if Danger really is singing along to The Hollies 'All I Need Is The Air That I Breathe' in the kitchen.

I think its the former. I hope its the latter. He's got a nice voice. And there's something about doing work like decorating that means you have to sing along to the radio. It's the law.

Anyone got any classic tracks that brings the pop star out of you. Danger, clearly, does. (see previous convictions re Sparkles, R.)

The Hollies are s much better choice than Robin Sparkles. I approve. Though I probably shouldn't say anything; as a preteen, I liked the bubblegum pop of the Lemon Pipers and their song, Green Tambourine.

I like a lot of classic rock -- I lived through most of it -- but I'm particularly partial to Grace Slick and the Jefferson Airplane.

Good luck with the redecorating. Has Mycroft found a paint color he likes?

Good old Radio 2 provides all sorts of tunes to sing to.

Mycroft has indeed chosen a colour. It's nice, makes his room look bigger, and feels less like the walls may come alive and kill you in the night.

Sherlock is harder, because of the whole portal-to-the-underworld in his room. And the multiple colours. And the fact they don't make that hard wearing washable paint in any colour he likes. But even the. Bare plaster in his room looks better than the paper.

Absolutely a hallucination. Also I think you just implied Ms Sparkles is a classic.

I don't actualy know wether this is pop or rock but it alwase gets me dancing around a singing wenever it comes on the radio, which is not often enough in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmwGGLrDvfE

And it has a funny clip to boot. If you post a clip of him sing this I will be a verry happy girl.

Christ, it does read that way. Ah well, she was classic to you, love.

If I play you guitar you have to sing along, deal?

Oh, and kids; no actual banks were robbed during the making of the above video. In fact there actualy is no such thing as the Bank of Australia. Thought I should point that out for the kids and your collegues as I don't want you getting in trouble over watching something depicting a crime, taking into consideration your line of work.

My post, my beautiful post where did you go. The above is actualy a reply to: I don't know if this classes as pop or rock but it certainly gets me dancing and singing wenever it comes on the radio; which is not often enough in my oppinion. It also has a funny video to boot.

If you were to post a vidio of Danger singing along to this I think it would make a lot of blog readers very happy.

NSYNC. I still howl along with them everyime they play. Well, that and anything John Barrowman has ever covered. I'm so infatuated with that man's voice.

Queen. You have to sing along to Queen, it's REQUIRED.

Particularly "Somebody to Love".

I'm a big fan of Pandora where I once told it what I liked and now just about every song they play I can sing along to, or else want to be able to if it's a band I don't know yet. It's almost disturbing how well it works. At least for me.

@Random: YES Queen, definitely one of the ones I'm singing with when Pandora offers it up.

Fleetwood Mac, and occasionally Dire Straits (they're hard to sing along to,though.) Oh, and Very Lynn. I used to sing along to my dad's old Abba cassette tapes, too.

Does punk count as classic? I sing (for a given value of singing) along to the Dropkick Murphys all the time.

Queen is definitely singable. So is "I Want to Know What Love Is" by Foreigner. (Not that the two of you don't already know.)

Now I have Queen stuck in my head. Dammit people.

I must sing to Billy Joel, because I know all the songs. Are those classics? Bill Joel practically scored my childhood, my parents listened to his music that much. Simon & Garfunkel, likewise.

As for tracks, I would say mainly "Cocaine" by Eric Clapton (particularly the guitar part), "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve (you have to turn this up loud enough that the violins permanently damage your hearing, IT'S THE LAW), and I have a penchant for "Shout" by Tears for Fears. (DON'T JUDGE.)

Yes, Queen, and particularly "Bohemian Rhapsody". Bonus points if you do it a capella with a giant group of friends and sing the guitar solo, all while painting the house of someone only one of you knows. At least that's I how I did it.

Provided you don't play Let's Go to the Mall or Sandcastles in the Sand, yes, it's a deal.

Lindsay said...

If he does play either of those, you really ought to record it. For posterity.

Also blackmail.

Greg Lestrade said...

Danger - If I played either of those my guitar would wither and die.

Otherwise the readership of your blog, who seem to have strayed on to my sorry offering, do have exceptional taste. Where did you find them all? Not at the mall, that's for sure.

annoyedwabbit said...

Lestrade - Danger didn't find us, *we* found *him*, (or rather, his blog) thus confirming our exceptional taste.

The Who. Particularly Tommy (Pinball Wizard!) and the song Join Together.

And Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

And Fleetwood Mac and Eric Clapton are seconded. :0)

John H. D. Watson said...

Lindsay - but if he plays, apparently I'll be singing. There will be no recording of me singing Let's Go to the Mall, ever.

Lindsay said...

Please don't imply that there will be *singing* of Let's Go to the Mall. You're scaring me.

Greg Lestrade said...

There will be no playing Sparkles, no singing it, no nothing, not while I'm around.

But other than Danger's extremely questionable taste, you are all suggesting the very best of music. Eric Clapton was the person who made me want to learn the guitar. I could never get tired of listening to Fleetwood Mac, or Queen.

My answer is, and always will be, Springsteen. Particularly 'The Promised Land', but I'm not picky. Also, Janis Joplin. Sure, she gives me flashbacks to being fifteen, but if she comes on the radio there will be rocking out!

Are we enough years on for The Libertines to be 'classic' yet? Because I'll cop to that one, too.

Most of the early(er) Disney classic songs? I can blare those along quite well. Queen does make very good music for singing along with too! Otherwise it's lots of loose songs for me.
